Senior Supply Chain Strategy Manager – Offshore

The Senior Supply Chain Strategy Manager (SSCSM) is responsible for determining, implementing and monitoring the supply chain strategy for the global offshore wind business and in particular, within this role, the supply chain strategy for Scottish Power Renewables (SPR)’s floating offshore wind projects in 50/50 partnership with Shell, MarramWind and CampionWind.

The main objectives of the role are to identify strategies which maximise opportunities and minimise constraints in the offshore wind supply chain and implement / monitor strategic initiatives to drive reductions in the Levelised Energy Cost of Offshore Wind projects, whilst maintaining an appropriate risk profile.

This will involve both research into each key market to identify trends and opportunities to secure the supply of products/materials and services while maintaining quality requirements, and identifying, assessing and negotiating contractual arrangements with potential suppliers.

The individual will work closely with several internal and external stakeholders to coordinate strategic initiatives through multifunctional teams of supply chain managers, engineers, procurement, operations and construction experts from across the Global Offshore Wind business.

Due to the step change requirements of the offshore wind industry, this will require the need to facilitate significant growth in some areas of the supply chain production, including contact with high level government officials as well as regional and European development agencies.

What you’ll be doing

You will Co-ordinate multifunctional teams of supply chain managers, engineers, procurement, operations and construction experts from across the Global Offshore Wind business and help Influence Joint Venture Project Teams to ensure that strategic supply chain initiatives are embedded within the Joint Venture.

Considering a range of commercial engagement options while exploring opportunities to leverage benefits from wider activities being undertaken within the Iberdrola group and its JV partners abd negotiate with key suppliers to achieve strategic and project specific objectives.

We will look to you to make recommendations of strategic relationships, engagements and spend to the Project Director and other senior management members where appropriate and develop and maintain a database of Supply Chain participants for the effective co-ordination of knowledge.

Assist the business by Identifying requirements for long-term framework agreements and negotiate competitive terms, working with the Iberdrola Group Purchasing Team and JV purchasing teams where appropriate while considering and recommending strategic investments in aspects of the supply chain, including taking ownership interest in key suppliers.

What you’ll bring

You will bring extensive proven experience in supply chain management for complex, high-value offshore wind, marine, oil and gas projects and energy generation projects in general, with proven experience of commercial management of projects more than £100m capital expenditure.

You will have Experience of establishing strategic relationships with suppliers and stakeholders and Proven experience in international projects with a thorough understanding of the complex commercial and technical requirements related to supply of products/materials and services to such projects with a Deep all-round understanding of financial, commercial, and business principles and risk mitigation practices with experience in procurement and/or sales in electricity generation projects.

Extensive proven experience of managing geographically diverse, multi-disciplinary teams of experienced professionals and s strong understanding of the construction process, including design, fabrication, and installation in order to work effectively with Construction and Technical Services teams.

Offshore international experience or deep knowledge / experience of commercial and regulatory aspects of the Offshore wind industry are advantageous.
