The Senior Strategic Planning and Coordination Officer is a critical cross-functional function working closely with the Chief of Private Partnerships and Philanthropy to ensure that PPH delivers upon its strategic objectives and fulfils its role within PSP and within UNHCR. The position provides key support in coordinating the planning process, and the monitoring against plans throughout the business cycle, supporting the Chief of Section, the whole team and PPH fundraisers globally, as required for the achievement of the annual and multi-year goals. Working across the different PPH units, the incumbent will assist the Chief of Section in driving operations, internal communications, and the team’s organizational health. He/she will support the Chief on ensuring the effective use of resources against plans and objectives and for the alignment of the daily operations with the team’s strategy along the business cycle.

Duties

– Coordinate inputs for planning, budgeting and reporting into the relevant PSP structures and tools, hereby supporting the Chief of PPH section in ensuring that the execution of activities are in line with strategic priorities and operational data, reviewing plans and budgets on quarterly basis and monitoring implementation of the HQ team. – Work closely with the Chief of Section and PSP Regional Managers, support local PSP offices in developing national and/or regional PPH strategies, in line with the PSP Global Strategy and the PPH Strategic Framework. – Monitor the team budget, expenditure, and implementation, to ensure delivery through the annual business planning cycle and that key work streams are captured in robust plans. – Keep track of progress on PPH income globally, and regularly reporting back to the Chief of PPH and Head of PSP on the reliability of projections to ensure PPH targets are met. – Coordinate the work of PPH colleagues across the PSP network on their income projections and on the status of their partnerships, to ensure that they have healthy and solid donor pipelines, thereby diversifying sources of income for UNHCR and mitigating risks. – Ensure reporting requirements by coordinating and reviewing content, for documents such as the monthly reports on the team’s activities and achievements, the quarterly financial reporting, the mid-year and year-end narrative reports, UNHCR¿s yearly Global Report and Global Appeal; and other reports as required. – Facilitate organizational excellence by working on capacity-development, and leadership initiatives. – Participate in the planning and organization of individual or group capacity-building and skill-sharing activities for the PPH team, ensure that the capacity development plans are up-to-date and tracking expenditure against the capacity development budget. – Lead on the organization of the PPH Global Skill share, ensuring that the necessary consultations take place and that its execution supports PSP strategic objectives and contributes to improving PPH capacity globally. – Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Professional Work Experience Years of Experience / Degree Level For P4/NOD – 9 years relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or 8 years relevant experience with Graduate degree; or 7 years relevant experience with Doctorate degree

Field(s) of Education Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration Business Management, Social Sciences or other relevant field. (Field(s) of Education marked with an asterisk* are essential)

Relevant Job Experience

Essential Minimum 9 years of experience in project management, strategic planning, coordination, or related functions. Relevant professional experience in partnerships and/or managing relationships with donors and/or external partners, with exposure to an international environment and/or with humanitarian organizations. Experience in leadership/management and/or in managing multiple colleagues with different skillsets and areas of responsibility, with a proven track record of successfully implementing plans requiring expert knowledge at times. Experience in establishing and implementing strategies and plans according to priorities, in managing and mitigating risks, and in balancing different and sometimes competing needs and interests. Experience in budgeting, budget monitoring, and financial reporting. Experience in managing and coordinating between multiple stakeholders, with an ability to multi-task, manage time, keep with tight deadlines, and to thrive in a high-pressure environment. Experience in coordinating large-scale events involving with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Experience in internal communications with proven practice of driving internal coordination mechanisms and plans.

Desirable Experience in a UN field location and/or in a developing country Knowledge of humanitarian and/or development programming Experience with SharePoint 365 platform Experience with CRM systems, ideally Salesforce. Knowledge of another UN language.
