Job Summary: The Senior Specialist, Strategic Philanthropy is a passionate individual eager to share International Medical Corps work and story with existing and prospective corporate, foundation and other partners—communicating the urgency and impact of our work, with a goal of developing multi-faceted relationships and securing philanthropic investment. The right candidate will have frontline fundraising experience, exposure to international disaster response and humanitarian programming, comfort communicating with a range of audiences and the skills to identify funder priorities and adapt her or his approach accordingly, while also being able to collaborate with internal stakeholders to help bring partnerships to fruition.

Salary Range: Low $100’s to mid $110’s

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of key corporate, foundation and other donors that result in philanthropic investment in International Medical Corps and its programs; cultivate donor relationships in collaboration and coordination with leadership and key RD staff;
• Develop annual and long-term strategies for existing donors and prospects in your portfolio, including regular, thoughtful and mixed-methods communication plans;
• Identify and proactively work to open doors to new corporate, foundation and other donors on behalf of International Medical Corps;
• Using a moves managed approach, proactively and strategically steward prospective donors toward solicitation;
• Pursue transformative donor relationships that foster not just philanthropic investment—with a focus on unrestricted and/or flexible revenue streams—but mission-aligned partnerships inclusive of gift-in-kind, employee engagement, cause marketing opportunities and more in close coordination with leadership and key RD staff;
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to build and deliver on multi-faceted and transformative partnerships, including communications and programs teams as needed;
• Lead donor meetings as a solo fundraiser or in partnership with leadership, key RD staff and/or program staff;
• Regularly solicit and close six- and seven-figure gifts from corporations and foundations; clearly and effectively communicate donor priorities to leadership, key RD staff and program staff for the timely completion of any applications, concept notes, proposals and more; secure timely donor feedback on any unsuccessful applications or proposals;
• Liaise with key RD staff, as well as field and operations staff, to produce high-quality donor reports and coordinate with communications to create appropriate marketing materials, when necessary; produce donor reports if and when needed;
• Ensure and implement appropriate follow up, including drafting emails, presentations and more, and work with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate input and approval.
• Leverage existing corporate, foundation and other donors in your portfolio to support annual fundraising opportunities, including the Annual Awards Celebration, Luncheons, Campaigns and more;
• Represent International Medical Corps at conferences and special events; network with potential donors and nonprofit counterparts to share information and seek new avenues for support;

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Typically, a Bachelor’s degree in related area. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• Typically, 10+ years of relevant and progressive experience in fundraising, or the equivalent in a corporate setting, with at least 5 years as a frontline fundraiser.
• Experience soliciting and closing six-figure and seven-figure gifts from corporations and corporate foundations, including building a pipeline of new prospects
• Strength in envisioning and delivering on the potential of corporate relationships, bringing both strategy and creativity to sustaining and expanding them over time
• Business acumen, ability to identify and align International Medical Corps work with corporate priorities, and pursue impactful public recognition strategies that elevate corporate relationships
• Excellent relationship building, verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to communicate effectively with diverse internal and external partners
