The Senior Staff Solutions Architect, working with the Director, Digital Transformation in the Digital Science Global Services team, is responsible for successfully developing solutions architecture and roadmaps in support of pre- and post-sales customer engagements, and provides technical guidance for delivery of Digital Science platform solutions, partnering with all relevant teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic:

  • Trusted advisor to our customers, global account managers, services leaders, product managers, and delivery teams
  • Maintain and assume accountability for a culture of high customer service
  • Position Thermo Fisher Digital Science as a leader in life and laboratory science digitalization through successful delivery
  • Work with broader organization to achieve business objectives, expand multi-functional client engagements
  • Effectively share knowledge to help build a world-class digital solutions consulting and implementation team, working closely with global services leaders
  • Provide feedback to product management and engineering to rapidly advance our platform capabilities to meet customer needs and expectations
  • Contribute to 3rd party technology, product, and solution evaluations in the context of our portfolio

Operational:

  • Solutions design, architecture, configuration, and implementation of Digital Science solutions to meet customer needs
  • Co-create solutions delivery plans with the regional services teams, assess for technical/ architectural feasibility, and provide appropriate ongoing guidance for services and training delivery
  • Contribute to improving processes, ensuring compliance, and driving improvements
  • Provide recommendations into planning, resource allocation, management, tracking, and reporting on all aspects of customer engagements
  • Facilitate team and customer meetings effectively; deliver engaging, informative presentations both to internal and external audiences
  • Contribute to building solutions consulting and architecture competency and practices
  • Travel, as needed, for internal and customer meetings

Business Partnership:

  • Working collaboratively with Digital Science and broader Thermo Fisher colleagues to create and sustain a culture of delivering excellent customer experience, embracing continuous learning, leading with digital innovation, analytical thinking, and managing complexity.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience defining business, solution, information architecture from concept through solution delivery for enterprise software solutions, preferably in life and laboratory sciences
  • Broad knowledge of relevant technologies and implications in the delivery of scientific solutions, and the ability to demonstrate the same to architect and deliver impactful solutions to meet business requirements
  • Technical thought leadership and sound understanding of key industry trends
  • Demonstrated experience delivering in a matrix, global environment, across internal and external resources
  • Understanding of IT processes, SDLC methodologies, Quality Management Systems, and knowledge of regulatory landscape, with preference for experience in delivering and supporting validated systems
  • Practical experience applying enterprise architecture methodologies as well as use of architecture toolsets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, integrity, and credibility
  • Results focused, with a demonstrated track record of getting things done
  • Planning, prioritizing, reporting, problem solving and analytical capabilities
  • Collaborative, initiates and facilitates communications and relevant information sharing, and works with different functions to achieve the best outcomes

What will you need?

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in IT, IS, Engineering, Life Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience consulting with medium and large customers in various roles such as architect, solutions lead, or implementation lead for enterprise solutions in the life and laboratory sciences industry.
  • Demonstrated success as a key participant, lead, or manager of technology consulting engagements.
