Our Technology Centre in St. Gallen, as a key-part of the Business Line Industrial Controls and Protection (ICP) in Bonn, focuses on the development, production and sales support of automation products, software, and solutions, which are used by well-known machine and plant manufacturers worldwide.

As a Senior Software Engineer C++ (m/f/d), you will be driving the Technical responsibility of the visualization software Galileo development for Industrial Automation products. You will be part of Automation and Digital Solutions team within ICP Business. Your role will include new development as well as customer support.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of the runtime system of our HMI visualization software Galileo
  • Analysis, conception and implementation of new product features
  • Implementation of communication interfaces for fieldbus, ethernet and IoT systems
  • Contribution to the continuous advancement of the development infrastructure (development tools, build environment, automated testing)
  • Close collaboration with and support of the functional test and support team
  • Collaboration with internal departments (e.g., operating system development) as well as external team members

Qualifications

Your essential skills we are looking for:

  • Customer-oriented and solid business development skills (market/trend understanding, customer communication skills, etc.)
  • Completed study (HF/FH) in the field of software engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering or similar
  • Multiple years of work experience in software engineering
  • Very good programming skills in C++ (11/14 version)
  • Practical experience with the usage of graphical frameworks/libraries (e.g., Qt, OpenGL)
  • Good Experience in the conception of software architectures and their implementation
  • Experience in programming for embedded systems (Linux) preferable
  • Experience with build systems (CMake, Yocto) and in writing unit tests preferable
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) as well as experience in using and programming fieldbus systems and PLCs (e.g., Modbus, CoDeSys) of advantage
  • Solution-oriented and quality-conscious way of working
  • Good command of English in spoken and written, German of advantage
