Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Marlow Navigation is looking for a Back-end software engineer that has the traits of a self-starter who is constantly challenging himself to write better code, learn new technologies, and help colleagues grow.

We are looking for someone with:

10.  Knowledge of applying object oriented and functional programming styles to real world problems.

Ideally (but not restrictive) you should have:

1.     Hands on experience (5+) years using Java and/or one of the following languages

2.     Scala

3.     C#

4.     Python

5.     Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery

6.     Knowledge of microservice architecture

7.     Working experience with TDD & BDD

8.     Experience building REST API’s

9.     Experience working with Docker

10.  General knowledge of agile software development concepts and processes

11.  Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git

12.  Working experience with Jira, Confluence

Nice to haves:

1.     Special interest in functional programming

2.     Knowledge of reactive manifesto

3.     Knowledge of streaming data

4.     Experience with Akka, Play Framework or Lagom

5.     Experience working with Kafka

6.     Knowledge of NoSQL

7.     Cloud based development with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud etc.

8.     Commercial exposure with ELK stack
