  • Reports to: Exigo’s Management Team, including the Director of Research, Research Program Manager, and Director of Operations

Our team of local and international experts include monitoring and evaluation specialists, social researchers, technical experts and media experts with on the ground experience and access to hard to reach and marginalised communities around the world. Exigo provides Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and research services for humanitarian and development actors, to inform their programming and inform decision-makers through evidence based research by documenting lessons learned from past experiences, and informing future interventions and policy.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Research and M&E Officer is part of Exigo research team to ensure that the company’s research and M&E projects are effectively implemented and managed in a timely manner. The Senior Research and M&E Officer is also expected to be responsive and proactive, to have strong communication skills and be able to work independently and take the lead on research analysis and report writing with minimal supervision. He/she will work closely with the company’s research and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team including, but not limited to, project officers, research officers, field coordinators, and technical advisors. The responsibilities listed below are representative of the key tasks required of this role and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and M&E projects implementation:

  • Participate in interviews, when shortlisted and invited by potential clients
  • Participate in inception/kick off meetings with clients
  • Develop research methodologies, including sampling strategies, quantitative and qualitative data collection tools, analysis plans, detailed work plans and protocols for individual research and M&E projects, as per their scope of work
  • Ensure the objectives of research and M&E projects are well understood by Exigo’s project teams and adequately reflected in the training of field teams
  • Lead the desk review of documents and other relevant literature
  • Lead the analysis and report write up from the inception phase to the delivery of final outputs to the clients
  • Carry out quantitative data cleaning, coding and statistical analysis, including visualisation of findings through the creation of charts and figures, when required
  • Produce high quality and analytical reports triangulating both qualitative and quantitative findings for Exigo’s M&E and research projects
  • Address internal feedback on project outputs from Exigo’s research team, before submission to clients
  • Ensure all comments made by clients on project deliverables are addressed in a thorough and timely manner
  • Check the quality of research outputs before submission to the clients
  • Draft PowerPoint presentations of findings, workshops presentation to clients
  • Facilitate remotely or in person presentations of research findings and workshops to clients and other relevant stakeholders, when required as a specific deliverable
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timeframes and deadlines

Internal communication:

  • Provide regular updates to the Research Programme Manager
  • Identify and raise any concerns that may affect the effective implementation of projects to the Research Programme Manager.

External communication:

  • Ensure proper and timely communication with the clients
  • Liaise with clients, respond to their queries as needed and provide regular progress updates.

Other relevant tasks:

  • Support in identifying new project opportunities
  • Support in developing research and M&E proposals
  • Participate in regular team meetings
  • Organise debrief internal meetings to draw key lessons learned and recommendations on research and M&E research projects
  • Perform any other relevant duties or tasks as assigned or required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of study
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience working in the M&E and research fields, preferably in the humanitarian and development sectors
  • Strong statistical and data analysis background
  • Strong proficiency in analytical tools such as NVivo, SPSS, KoBo, and other tools
  • Excellent written, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of Arabic and/or French is a plus
  • Experience in and knowledge of the context in the MENA region is a plus.
