Overview: DT Global is seeking a Senior Proposal Writer (independent contractor) to write and integrate a winning USAID technical proposal for upcoming climate change adaptation, mitigation, and renewable energy programs.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Based on verbal and written inputs from the technical team, author the technical proposal volumes for USAID requests for proposals (RFPs) for climate change adaptation, mitigation, and renewable energy programs
  • Partner with technical teams in designing sound, and competitive technical solutions, approaches, and activities into a succinct, clearly articulated, responsive, and compliant technical proposal volume
  • Develop technical proposal outlines and serve as proposal editor and integrator, and partners with the proposal manager to complete the compliance matrix
  • Gain a deep understanding of the development challenge, the competitive environment, and DT Global’s capabilities to craft win themes
  • Participate in proposal strategy, design, writing, and review sessions throughout the proposal process
  • As a representative of DT Global, travel to countries on information-gathering trips, speaking with USAID, host country government, private sector, and other international development partner stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of local contexts

Minimum Requirements and Education:

  • Demonstrated success as the lead technical writer for multiple USAID proposals, maintaining a strong win rate
  • Proven record of accomplishment writing competitive, high-value proposals in the climate change and energy sectors
  • Ability to synthesize technical information and data to create engaging and compelling text while maintaining technical accuracy and adhering to strict page limitations
  • Mastering of compliant outline development and storyboarding
  • Excellent references from multiple USAID implementing partner clients
  • Ability to build strong, logical, project-based theories of change
  • Subject matter exposure in climate change adaptation and mitigation, low emissions development strategies, and renewable energy
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant USAID and U.S. Government strategies and policies (e.g., Climate Change Strategy, Private Sector Engagement Strategy, Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Policy, Youth in Development Policy, Evaluation Policy) in the context of USAID proposals
  • Availability to take on proposal writing assignments starting in June 2022 (required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Contextual knowledge of USAID’s Europe & Eurasia Bureau and regional country missions in Southern Europe
  • Availability to travel in May 2022
