Senior Project Coordinator – Thomson Reuters Foundation

Please note, this is a 2-year fixed-term opportunity based in London.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation stands for free, independent journalism, human rights, women’s empowerment, and the rule of law. We use the skills, values, and expertise of Thomson Reuters to run programmes that trigger real change and empower people around the world, including free legal assistance, journalism, media and communication training, coverage of the world’s under-reported stories, and the Trust Conference.

Our Media Development team fosters the highest standards of journalism worldwide. We believe accurate, impartial and independent journalism leads to better-informed societies. It holds power to account, strengthens the rule of law and contributes to economic and social development. We provide support to journalists and independent media outlets to produce and distribute high quality journalism in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

The Foundation is offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Coordinator to join our Programmes Team and support the delivery of new projects in Eastern Europe, particularly in Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. In this role, you’ll work alongside the Regional Programme Manager, Project Manager and Project Coordinator to ensure the successful delivery of the Foundation’s objectives.

The Senior Project Coordinator will be expected to provide cross-cutting operational and administrative support to ensure the successful delivery of the project activities, as well as taking the lead in aspects of project cycle management where appropriate. The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter with existing experience of project coordination, an appetite to further develop project management skills, and a willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the project.

There are significant opportunities for the right candidate to grow in this role, as TRF develops and grows its strategy and approach to the wider region with the objective of strengthening independent media.

  • Monitor progress against plans and strategies and support the Project Manager to identify emerging risks, issues and lessons which could impact the successful delivery of the project.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including beneficiaries and experts, as agreed with the Project Manager.
  • Provide logistical support for activities including workshops and mentoring schemes.
  • Contribute to other aspects of the project management cycle, including strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation processes.
