We are looking for a Senior Programme Officer within the Eurasia and North Africa Team. They will have an initial focus on supporting our programme in North Iraq.

The Senior Programme Officer will work closely with the Programme Quality Director in managing a portfolio of partner organisations in Iraq, by strengthening the partner’s organisational capacity, programmatic capacity and identifying new partners. Guide and support the partners with effective design, assessment, resourcing and monitoring of partner projects in support of the delivery of Tearfund’s country strategy in Iraq, whilst ensuring projects reflect Tearfund Quality Standard commitments. As Senior program officer for North with support of Program director they will provide support for Peacebuilding, Economic sustainability , environmental and crisis to resilient programming in Iraq, provide detailed, practical technical support for Tearfund Iraq and partner staff throughout the project cycle management, enhance the capacity of partners to deliver properties sectors programming, ensure high quality programmatic evidence is built, shared and used, and represent Tearfund at relevant forums.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or equivalent in development, management studies or related subjects.
  • Working experience in a humanitarian and development context with institutional donors such as USAID, MOFAs, GIZ, Pooled Fund, GAC, etc.
  • Ability in capacity development of local partner organisations.
  • Ability to build rapport and engage with churches and/or church-based organisations
  • Ability in project cycle management and evaluation, and in budget development and management
  • Implementing and working in accordance with corporate structures, policies and practices.
  • Experience in delivering training or mentoring others in good programme practice.
  • Be a quick learner, works proactively with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with oral and written proficiency in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to take initiative, be a great team player and work with integrity.
  • Ability to gain respect of church leaders and CEOs of partner organisations

The candidate will also demonstrate excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English and be a strong negotiator and problem solver with ability to make sound judgment. Also have a strong presentation, training skills, organisational and administrative skills and good IT skills.
