CARE’s HER team works to generate and build evidence, measure impact, and share learning globally, and to increase global impact by advocating for stronger health policies and encouraging scale-up and replication of successful approaches.

The Sr Program Officer (SPO) for Knowledge Management and Communications will lead knowledge management and communications for the broader HER team and provide technical support to country offices. The SPO role will support generation of evidence and learning from programs as well as provide direct support to country teams in various ways, including: strategy development for KM and learning; resource mobilization for Health/SRHR, liaising and connecting global opportunities at regional and national levels (for sharing, learning and influencing), etc.
The SPO will focus on supporting the Knowledge Management and Learning work at CARE that focuses on making sure we use our data and learning to improve our impact for the people we serve, to create and manage knowledge products, streamline and create external communications materials, and manage software platforms and knowledge and learning websites. The officer will work with several projects and individuals to make sure that we are capturing and sharing our learning from many different parts of the organization. The job requires high organization, the ability to prioritize, advanced skill with computers, experience working across cultures and teams, and excellent writing skills. Knowledge of Sharepoint and WordPress a plus, as well as other software skills.

The Knowledge Management and Communication SPO reports to Director of RMKM of the Health Equity and Rights team and promotes a culture of learning and information sharing, identifying and scaling the good practices of CARE & others, and influencing policy and practice by diverse actors and decision-makers in the Global Health arena. This position working together with the Director of RMKM builds connections around the CARE International network and is a strong asset to the HER team, providing support to COs and CI, generating evidence of impact, seeking to influence change at scale, and telling CARE’s unique story.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the creation and distribution of Knowledge Products.
  2. Lead knowledge management and communication strategy for HER team.
  3. Create and disseminate external communications in relevant contexts.
  4. Provide technical assistance for health programming.
  5. Lead or support specific global, regional, or country office resource mobilization efforts.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned to enable strategic allignment with Program strategy and impact and ensure cross-cutting KML objectives and accountabilities to focus efforts on CARE’s strategic learning objectives.

Qualifications:

  • First degree in public health or social sciences.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in tech, computer applications.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Good knowledge translation skills and/or a track record of translating knowledge from technical content to external audiences.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to listen to a variety of perspectives and balance a variety of demands.
