Position Status: Exempt, Regular, Full Time

Salary: US: Starting salary for this role will be $90,000 USD commensurate on experience. Based on local benchmark for candidates outside of the United States.

About Finance Systems

The Finance Systems Team is responsible for leading, coordinating and implementing Mercy Corps’ global financial and reporting software.

General Position Summary

The Senior Program Manager, Finance Systems is responsible for leading new process and technology initiatives. Types of projects could include new system rollouts, upgrades of existing systems, integration and reporting, and general change management. In coordination with the Information Technology (IT) and Finance departments, the Senior Program Manager, Finance Systems is responsible for gathering requirements from diverse sets of global stakeholders, prioritizing, and scoping realistic goals, and providing program governance and leadership (change management, documentation, stakeholder and timeline management, vendor, and auditor engagement, etc.)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the global implementation of business technology projects via program governance and tactical project management.
  • Define, prioritize, and execute initiatives around automation of manual tasks, data cleanliness, and integration refactoring.
  • Establish quality control and governance structures around data, system documentation/change management, and end user support mechanisms.
  • Represent the Finance department and worldwide user groups in various IT and Data Governance working groups. Provide guidance to management regarding long-term system objectives as they relate to organizational goals.
  • Serve as a consultant, stakeholder representative and/or project team member on other project teams implementing related system projects. Ensure efficient integrations and common data management while working closely with project and development teams.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

The Senior Program Manager, Finance Systems has no supervisory responsibility.

Accountability

Reports Directly To: Director Finance Systems

Works Directly With: Information Technology, Corporate Finance, International Finance, Mercy Corps Europe’ Finance Department, Global Compliance and Support Unit, cross-operations departments including People and Strategy, Data Protection, Procurement, Monitoring and Evaluation, etc.

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of our field projects.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • 5+ years leading large global business system implementation projects/programs with an emphasis on geographic and cultural diversity of user/stakeholders.
  • 5+ years defining system, integration, and reporting requirements from multiple teams.
  • 5+ years data architecture and business intelligence experience.
  • Advanced Proficiency in SQL.
  • Clearly documenting advanced business/technology concepts for both formal (auditable SOPs) and informal (knowledge management) paradigms.
  • Advanced business proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Although not required, it would be very useful for an applicant to have experience with Award management and fund accounting concepts applicable to large International NGOs.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Dynamics Nav/Serenic Navigator platform is an extra plus (but not required).
  • PMP or equivalent might be a plus, but not required.

  • Proven ability to synthesize and analyze information and document and communicate results to diverse sets of stakeholders.
  • Attention to and comprehension of end-to-end processes and user touchpoints (systems, reports, integrations, helpdesk, etc.).
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members.
  • Must have a solutions-oriented approach, a strong work ethic and high degree of integrity.
