The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Senior Program Assistant to provide administrative support to the members of the program team in program development and implementation. This position will be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

About GAIN

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Programs, the Senior Program Assistant will provide effective support and assistance to ensure smooth program implementation in line with GAINs policies and regulations.

You will provide operational and administrative assistance to the program team including coordination and logistical services in support of the operations of the program, and information management for the team.

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Coordinating and disseminating all internal and external material, including publicity and background documents for local GAIN events
  • Providing programme and administrative support to the programme team in the preparation of various programme documents, such as work plans, budgets, reports, and proposals on programme implementation arrangements
  • Assisting the programme team in reviewing and preparing documentation on the procurement of goods and services and supporting in contract tracking
  • Arranging domestic and international travel and accommodation for the programme team and project staff
  • Maintaining and regularly updating travel plans and budget amounts to provide an accurate overview of the program’s travel budget
  • Organising, compiling and processing information from the donor as well as from the programme team and keep track of the information through databases

About You

The ideal candidate should have experience in supporting finance administration tasks including and POs, handling finance requisitions. You should have proven previous experience with program/project coordination supporting in the areas of logistics and general office operations.

The postholder should have proven ability to use initiative, prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure. Also, you should be professional in written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in multicultural, multi-lingual environment. You should be highly flexible and willing to occasionally work outside of normal working and travel occasionally.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from USD 14,894 – USD 17,037 per annum, depending on experience.

GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance. In addition, GAIN offers a total of 37 days holiday per year (including annual leave, public holidays and additional office closure days), an attractive pension scheme and competitive insurance cover including health, travel and life assurance.
