The position is to be filled as soon as possible with a contract duration of one year, due to a maternity leave replacement. There are prospects for an extension in part-time. Employment location will be Berlin, Germany.

As Senior Policy Advisor Global Hunger Index, you will play a key role in the successful conception, production and further development of the overall publication and manage the associated communications and advocacy work.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the conception, content, production and further development of the publication Global Hunger Index (GHI) in English and German as well as the coordination of an international team of partners, consultants and experts
  • Representation of Welthungerhilfe at external meetings and events and vis-à-vis political actors, partner organizations, donors, etc.
  • Coordination of the content and logistical preparation of events
  • Formulation of political positions of Welthungerhilfe on various development policy issues
  • Advising Welthungerhilfe country offices on advocacy measures and processes
  • Independent management of the project budget and acquisition of third-party funding for GHI-related components
  • Prepare briefings and presentations for department management, the board of directors and the executive committee
  • Coordination with other Welthungerhilfe departments on content of publications and policy positions as well as events
  • Conception and implementation of workshops with Welthungerhilfe staff as well as partner organizations and external guests
  • Steering the strategic development of the project with regard to methodology and scientific anchoring, (digital) communication and advocacy strategy
  • Preparation of proposals, interim and final reports

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant subject area
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the management of international projects
  • Extensive experience in managing publications and editorial activities
  • Strategic-analytical skills and experience in political processes
  • Strong understanding of lobbying and advocacy work
  • Good expressiveness
  • High coordination and organizational skills, also under time pressure
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English and German
