Senior Manager – Sustainability

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced sustainability professional to join the Asda Sustainability Team as Senior Manager Sustainability.

The Asda Sustainability Team are responsible for setting and delivering the Asda “Better Planet” agenda which operates across four areas: Carbon, Nature, Waste, and Value. Leading the sustainable sourcing team you’ll be responsible for driving the agenda to deliver change for our customers, colleagues and investors. This role would suit someone with expertise in sustainability and ideally, experience working within retail or FMCG.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Developing strategies and plans that help the business to deliver our Better Planet agenda and our ambition to be Net zero by 2040
• Embedding sustainability commitments and targets into business processes and ways of working
• Support the ESG team to deliver sustainability reporting metrics
• Leading a team of three sustainability professionals
• Acting as a key point of contact and subject matter expert in the business for sustainability queries; both internal and external.
• Representing the Asda at industry fora

About You

You will have experience working in sustainability field preferably with some experience in retail or supply chain. You’ll also be a;

• Strong communicator and be able to present complex sustainability issues and recommendations in a clear and concise manner to decision makers at all levels.
• Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. The ability to multi task and prioritise is crucial.
• Strategic thinker and be able to draw insights from a variety of sources and metrics to provide bigger picture recommendations.
• Technical sustainability expert with understanding of the key sustainability issues
• Be able to and comfortable with influencing other groups and individuals; internally and externally.
• Experience leading a team of experts
