SIR is a 501(c)(6) professional association that supports more than 8,100 interventional radiology physicians, trainees, medical students, scientists and clinical professionals. SIR is also comprised of SIR’s 501(c)(3) Foundation, which focuses on research and fundraising to advance the future of interventional radiology. Together SIR and SIR Foundation have nearly 50 staff, combined annual revenues of $10 million, and assets of nearly $17 million.

Position Summary:

SIR is growing and has an exciting new role to fill; the Senior Manager, Member Engagement. This role will oversee the management of all aspects of member engagement strategy, including recruitment, member and staff training, appointments, evaluation and recognition to support a new governance framework. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills and the ability to build relationships with all levels of membership and staff.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

Section Management

  • Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Association for Chiefs in Interventional Radiology (ACIR) Section.
  • Enable strong lines of communication among member leaders and staff to ensure maximum reach, efficiency, understanding and impact of the Sections’ work.
  • Serve as the senior staff liaison for the SIR Sections (WIR, URM, ECS and ACIR).
  • Serve as the expert on SIR Sections’ model functioning, develop and needs.
  • Direct and maintain SIR Sections which may require additional and separate fees, member benefits and structure.

Volunteer Engagement

  • Oversee SIR sections, committees and task forces to ensure efficient and effective allocation of volunteer and staff resources and facilitate communication among these groups and other Divisions and Departments of the Society.
  • Promote collaboration among the section chairs, other member leaders, staff liaisons, and other key influencers and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage an annual budget for the volunteer engagement area.
  • Through supervision of the Program Managers of Volunteer Engagement and Volunteer Strategy, oversee the management of all aspects of the members’ engagement, including recruitment, member and staff training, appointments, evaluation and recognition.

Volunteer Development

  • Nurture a strong leadership pipeline of engaged members, including a comprehensive orientation program for section leaders. And serve as a resource for best practice, resource identification, and innovative ideas.
  • Develop and oversee recognition programs that acknowledge the outstanding achievements of the section activities.
  • Develop a mechanism to recognize volunteer contributions through engagement scoring.
  • Work with the Membership Department to solicit interest area profiles and other data to aid in volunteer recruitment and member engagement.

Community Management

  • Serve as staff liaison to the SIR Connect Moderation Review Committee and ensure SIR Connect is a respectful and diverse forum for members.
  • Collaborate with staff in areas of the society to include: Advocacy, Education, Performance and Quality Improvement, Standards and, Communications and Marketing to support section initiatives.
  • Manage SIR Section webpages, microsites and online communities.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Association Management database systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with employees at all levels in the
  • organization.
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships and partnerships.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to critically analyze data and to identify trends.
  • An exceptionally strong service-driven approach, with the ability to see the big picture and
  • manage the details with leadership and diplomacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver presentations and facilitate focus
  • groups.
  • Proven experience in program implementation and evaluation.
  • Ability to detect small issues and problem solve before they become larger challenges.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Advanced degree and/or certification in professional field preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum six years progressive membership and/or volunteer management experience in an association environment with direct supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading and mentoring staff.
  • Proven ability to work in collaborations leading committees or other volunteer groups
  • Strategic project work including problem-solving and decision making.
  • Experience being accountable for revenue and expenses.
