Senior Mainframe Engineer

Cognizant seeks an experienced and collaborative Senior Mainframe Engineer to join our inclusive and welcoming team. This full-time Senior Mainframe Engineer hybrid role is based in Zürich with hybrid working and offers an attractive salary and benefits.

As a Senior Mainframe Engineer, you will implement and manage security measures, including access controls, authentication, and encryption, to protect sensitive data and resources. Under z/OS platform engineering, various activities are crucial for maintaining and optimising the mainframe environment.

In your first few weeks in this Senior Mainframe Engineer role, you can expect to:

• Ensure timely installation of operating system updates, patches, and maintenance fixes to keep the system secure and stable
• Monitor and analyse system performance, resource utilization, and future growth to plan for adequate capacity and hardware resources
• Develop and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data and ensure minimal downtime during failures

Education

To apply for this Senior Mainframe Engineer role, you will need a degree or higher education in Economics, Computer Science or equivalent. You will also require:

• 5-10 years of experience in IBM Mainframe, Z/OS, PL/1, DB2 and SQL, IMS DC
• Knowledge of tools like MQ, Control M, Microsoft Visio, Topaz, ISPW, JIRA, and SNOW
• Former experience with Credit Suisse or UBS is a must
