The European Commission’s Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) is in charge of the European solidarity with people in need all around the world and aims to better coordination and disaster response inside and outside Europe. DG ECHO is based on the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence. Every decision ECHO takes must be in accordance with these four principles which are at the heart of the European Consensus on Humanitarian Aid.

ECHO Regional Office (RO) for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Panama City, is looking for a Senior Logistician (Administration)

Minimum requirements:

Education: A relevant first level university degree or equivalent professional experience. A post-graduate degree in Logistics will be a plus.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience at national or international level in the area of administration, procurement or logistics.
  • Knowledge of working processes (purchase orders, preparation of contracts for services and goods, tendering, protocol, etc.).
  • Previous experience in a Governmental or other International Organisation is an advantage
  • Good communication skills
  • Capable of working under pressure in a multitasking position.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Good experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).

Languages: Fluency in English and excellent knowledge of Spanish (oral and written).

Job description:

  • The jobholder is responsible for procurement, provision of equipment and logistics support to DG ECHO Office and the offices in the region and for ensuring the smooth running of the Office maintenance.
  • Responsible of general procurement tasks, assets, fleet and inventory management of the Regional Office and the LAC field offices when required.
  • Aids in all protocol matters with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and arrange protocol formalities for accreditation and others.
  • Draws-up and launches tenders. Follows-up the customs clearance management for all DG ECHO goods.
  • Plays an active role in the preparation of DG ECHO workshops and seminars.

This position is open to nationals and other residents of Panama with valid work and residence permits.

As a reference, the base salary offered to a person with 5-year experience (the minimum required for the post) is PAB 2,755,00 and it could be higher based on the years of relevant professional work experience supported by a work certificate from previous employers. i.e. with 10 years of work experience the salary would be PAB 2,898.00

Contracts will be ruled under the Panamanian´s labour legislation.
