Responsibilities
- Domain Expertise – Become a thought leader in the cybersecurity team, delivering value via strategic research, client engagement, global press, and social media outreach.
- Intellectual Property and Strategic Evaluation – Develop actionable, strategic, insightful, up-to-date market intelligence based on primary and secondary market research on the technologies, and services that the cybersecurity industry sells to the enterprise market.
- Business Development –Maintain business relationships with global security vendors by regularly participating in briefings with security vendors and working under the guidance of colleagues to conduct business needs analysis for Frost & Sullivan clients.
- Consulting Engagement – Proactively contribute to cybersecurity consulting projects under the guidance of senior team members, demonstrate specialist knowledge in the cybersecurity industry, and utilise defined research and analytical practices in a team-focused environment.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have an educational background in business, market research, economics, journalism, or technology with an enthusiastic curiosity about the critical role cybersecurity plays in enabling business around the world. A proactive, methodical, and innovative – thinking outside the box – working practice is essential, with the ability to deliver accurate, high impact results in a fast-paced team-focused environment.
Essential
- A relevant university degree (BA, BS) in anthropology, business administration, marketing, market intelligence, market research, journalism, psychology, sociology, or technology.
- A degree-level education or equivalent experience within a relevant related discipline.
- 3-4 years of analyst/consulting working experience within a Consulting and/or Advisory services business environment.
- The ability to research and write a coherent story on cybersecurity topics in grammatically correct English is critical.
- A foundational understanding of consulting/research/investigative journalism methodologies and business modelling (primary/secondary research, linear story development).
- A foundational understanding of the ICT industry, such as industry structure, operational practices, business functionalities, and competitive landscapes.
- Desire, curiosity, and enthusiasm to build your expertise in the cybersecurity domain to become a respected thought leader in the eyes of global security vendors.
- The ability to network to create new security vendor relationships and to proactively manage ongoing relationships to stay relevant to security vendors.
- Enthusiasm for supporting business development initiatives that benefit the entire team.
- An analytical thought process, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills and business level fluency in English.
- The desire to learn public presentation skills in front of an audience and a video camera.
- Confidence to present your work to a group of peers or a client and defend your analysis in a calm and professional manner.
- A team player who views team collaboration as an important path to professional development.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a market/industry research role.
- A relevant post graduate qualification (MA, MBA) or equivalent experience, e.g.:
- Market intelligence, market research analyst, consulting, or journalism focused on business issues, advisory services, and/or consulting.
- A foundational understanding of key cybersecurity issues in one or more of the following areas:
- Infrastructure security for networks, computing, and storage systems
- Internet of things (IoT) security issues and solutions
- Network security architecture and zoning, network virtualization security
- Firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems, and security outside the firewall
- Software-defined data centre/network security architecture
- Security orchestration & automation, threat intelligence, managed defence & response
- Encryption technologies, secure elements, root of trust, zero trust architecture
