- Ensure community involvement at all phases of the project and the development of community ownership of the project.
- Design and implement public health promotion activities in conjunction with the Public Health Engineers ensuring that the links are made with the provision of water and sanitation facilities
- To support the planned hygiene promotion activities at field level
- Work in coordination with the WASH Engineering team/s and local communities to -identify acceptable water supply system and sanitation facilities designs
- contribute to the planning and implementation of all activities related to this HP section, from selecting beneficiaries, distributing bags, training volunteers, and supervising fieldwork plans for volunteer teams.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports.
- Support the WASH teams to carry out programme implementation activities within the parameters of the public health needs and Public Health Strategy. This will involve assisting the Public Health team in identifying appropriate designs for implementation; supporting and capacity building the team members
- Ensure that all work is carried out in a way that is sensitive to community needs and promotes the full and equal participation of women. As much as possible ensure that an empowering approach to working with communities is employed rather than one, which relies on didactic message based methodologie.
- Worked closely with the teams to generate weekly, monthly, distribution and monitoring and situation reports within the specified timeframe.
- Fully participate in any Learning reviews ensuring that final recommendations are incorporated into the hygiene promotion strategy.
- Supervise the work of hygiene promoters and review the reports on weekly basis.
Person Specifications (Requirements):
- Diploma in WASH related subjects
- At least 3-4 years’ experience in hygiene promotion programs In Somalia
- Fluent in English and Somali
- Social mobilization experience preferred
- Strong team building and management skills
- Having report writing skills and communication skills.
