ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have strong experience in providing strategic and technical advice across government, development, and academic stakeholders within the context of health economics and health financing. You will hold a relevant post-graduate qualification and ideally have superior knowledge of health systems financing. Excellent research, communication and coordination skills, an acute eye for detail, together with a positive disposition will all be essential to enable you to help influence change at a senior level across The Foundation and across a wide network of partners and professionals.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Health Economist will contribute to a strategically important and growing portfolio of work in health economics and financing for eye health as part of the design and delivery of programs and help shape global norms and policy aligned to The Foundation’s Strategic Plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead development and technical oversight of a strategic portfolio of health systems financing and economics work for eye health that links with and leverages relevant global agendas
  • Coordinate and foster coherence across country activities to increase capacity, evidence-based approaches and systemic change in eye health financing
  • Provide high level technical support to country teams for strategic health economics and financing projects
  • Undertake quantitative and economic analyses and prepare briefings and reports to deliver on The Foundation’s economics and health financing plans
  • Support global resourcing and advocacy efforts, as required, across The Foundation
  • Build internal and external sector capacity in eye health economics and financing
  • Facilitate strong working relationships across The Foundation and drive shared initiatives
  • Other tasks as requested by your manager

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Supporting costing and economic evaluation work in a health economics and financing related field
  • Providing national health systems financing and technical advice in low- or middle-income countries
  • Negotiating and partnering with government, research and / or non-government entities in health-related field particularly in a development setting
  • Working across cultures particularly in South and East Asia and Africa
