To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Senior Functional Safety Engineer (m/f/d). For this position we are offering opportunities for remote work up to and including full remote based from one of the Flex countries in EMEA.
The Sr. Functional Safety Engineer’s role involves defining FuSa concepts and plans and implementing them throughout our product development lifecycle. You will coordinate functional safety related activities with your stakeholders and together with your colleagues ensure compliance.
In our Automotive Design organization our teams create technologies for the Automotive Market. Our portfolio includes High and Low voltage DC/DC Converters, Inverters, Battery management system, Recuperation modules, Overhead Consoles, Smart Control Units as well as internal and external lighting applications.

What a typical day looks like:
- You lead safety related activities for E/E systems and ensure products, work products and processes are ISO 26262 compliant
- You derive safety requirements from Safety Goals including Functional Safety Requirements, Technical Safety Requirements, Hardware Safety Requirements, and Software Safety requirements and support system architecture design in cooperation with the system architect
- You perform safety analyses including hazard analysis, qualitative and quantitative Fault Tree Analysis, FMEDA, and software safety analysis and participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities and reviews
- You assist and contribute to the safety plan and ensure work products meet requirements by collaborating with cross-functional teams within the Flex Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier groups to ensure all stakeholder requirements are fulfilled
- You organize verification reviews and confirmation reviews, audits, and safety assessments and interface with the customers and suppliers for functional safety
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- A finished degree in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering, or a similar relevant field
- Strong demonstrated experience in the area of functional safety and experience as a Functional Safety Manager
- Flex is a strong matrix-based organization so you should be comfortable coordinating with functional teams
- Experience working with safety standards like IEC 61508, ISO 26262; a certification in these areas would be considered an advantage
- Professional English skills are mandatory in this role; additional languages such as German would give you an advantage
- Knowledge and experience with quality standards (ISO/IEC 15504, Automotive SPICE) will be a plus.
