Job Description
Are you ready to take part in building the foundation for user interfaces and heavily influence the design culture at Wolt? If you said “Yes”, then come and join our new team on a mission.
The new Design Infrastructure team will be shaping the way how user interfaces get built at Wolt. The team will empower other engineers and designers by building a design system. The team will drive the UI best practices across Wolt and have a wide influence over feature teams. The goal is to increase the design and development velocity, quality and consistency for projects including our consumer applications, courier partner application and tooling, merchant tooling, operational tooling and many more.
You’ll join this completely new team and take full ownership of the “Cookbook” design system. You will plan the future, refactor, extend and build entirely new foundational building blocks. You will get a wide exposure on Wolt products and design and have a chance to collaborate with people all around the product organisation. Needless to say, there are countless exciting challenges and opportunities ahead!
The team will consist of a team lead, two frontend engineers, two mobile engineers and two designers. This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Berlin or Stockholm, or you can work remotely anywhere in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Estonia. Our humble expectations
Hands-on: We are looking for a person with experience in building high quality components and UI abstractions. You are expected to be proficient in creating solutions to common UI problems and maintaining them.
Technical skills: As the creator of foundational elements, we expect you to deliver top notch quality. You are expected to have several years of experience in React and TypeScript and know them like the back of your hand. Also, you will be capable and interested in maintaining some frontend infrastructure.
Visual skills: While we don’t expect you to be a designer, we want you to have good eye for design. You can spot differences in design confidently, understand common design patterns and even advocate for patterns that are specific to the Web platform.
Communication & collaboration: We need you to be a good communicator and share your knowledge with both engineers and designers across the organisation. As a builder of infrastructure, you will be expected to proactively communicate changes and also identify potential new challenges. Collaboration with both engineers and designers is an essential part of your role.
