Senior Field Engineer

  Context/Reporting line:Under the general guidance of the Head, Peacebuilding and Stabilization Division, the overallsupervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Program Officer,the successful incumbent will perform the following functions:Core Functions / Responsibilities1. Lead the development of shelter-related programs, QIPs interventions, and otherrehabilitation projects including:- Developing standardized Bill of Quantities (BoQ), designs, drawings and otherrelevant outputs for shelter rehabilitation, home reconstruction, or rehabilitation workon public infrastructure or IOM premises.- Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for different implementationmodalities, training of staff and sensitization of beneficiaries.- Interpreting construction drawings and study contract documents and applicablestandards or specifications prior to execution of any jobs.2. Ensure that draft designs of homes and schools and other buildings are accessible, supportcontractors to understand accessibility requirements, include accessibility features in BOQs)and contribute to guidance on accessibility audits.3. Monitor the implementation of rehabilitation works by contractors, or home-owners forshelter related interventions, to ensure that all site works are done according to all applicablequality standards.4. Assess risk related to work, provide training, and educate staff, contractors and communitiesfor a safer work environment and adopt necessary standards and safety practices for the work.5. Contact key stakeholders in the selected community (local authorities, councils, leaders, localand international NGOs, UN agencies present in the area, etc.) in coordination with otherteam members to explain project objectives and to clarify potential areas of cooperation.6.
