Essential Functions:

Leadership

  • Collaborate with Chief Operating Officer and other executive leaders on the development and implementation of a human resources strategy and organizational culture that support staff to do their best work in alignment with the organization’s goals, values, and strategic priorities.
  • Advise senior leadership on human resource strategy and issues related to the full employee life cycle.
  • Act as a steward and ambassador for Treehouse mission and values to foster a positive, equitable working environment.
  • Partner with executive leaders on the organization’s equity and inclusion strategy and DEI initiatives.
  • Utilize surveys, dashboards, and data to drive programs and priorities focused on employee development and employee retention.

HR Management

  • Oversee all HR functions for the organization, including but not limited to recruiting, compensation, benefits, employee relations, agency-wide policies, risk management, and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Direct the People & Culture department, providing supervision, setting department goals and priorities, monitoring performance, and ensuring excellent service to the organization.
  • Partner with the executive team to understand, develop and implement the organization’s human resource and talent strategy to meet current and future talent needs through recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership practices in hiring, leading, coaching and evaluation of diverse staff to support our mission, achieve work plans and support professional development goals.
  • Administer annual employee experience survey and make recommendations to executive leadership on adjustments to the organization’s talent management strategies.
  • Oversee performance management system and processes, ensuring that performance reviews, individual development plans and corrective action processes are in place, are timely, and in compliance with applicable laws, policies and agreements.
  • Ensure that human resources processes such as records management, leaves of absence, and benefit and salary administration are developed and performed in compliance with all legal and organizational requirements, standards, and procedures.
  • Leads the development and management of the departmental budget.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Analyzes trends in and monitors the effectiveness of compensation and benefits practices to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Manages the development, implementation and administration of compensation and benefits programs.
  • Provides advice to Executive Leadership on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • Create an employee benefits program that maximizes value to staff within budgetary constraints; supervise the communication, enrollment, and administration of plans
  • Provide leadership, representation, and oversight for all legal compliance issues including but not limited to L&I, unemployment, legal proceedings, investigations, risk management, and any legal issues that impact the organization’s operations, policies, employees, and clients.
  • Ensures all managers adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements affecting employees
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to management.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience in HR and hand-on HR roles
  • BA degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity and social justice and ability to effectively engage in candid conversations about diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive and effective working relationships with individuals of various ages, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate complex concepts and information to agency senior management and board volunteers
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to plan and implement in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to successfully carry out complex assignments, adapt to changing situations and priorities, and manage effectively in times of ambiguity and change
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to balance multiple and competing priorities
  • Ability and aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite and other technology
  • Satisfy Washington State criminal background requirements for working with youth and vulnerable adults

Working Conditions – typical business office environment/working from home. Treehouse’s Seattle office is a dog-friendly work environment.
