Program & Job Overview: Implemented by the IRC, the Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange (CORE) is a technical assistance program that connects and supports refugee resettlement staff globally to deliver effective Cultural Orientation (CO) which helps refugees achieve self-sufficiency in the United States. As part of this work, CORE develops resources, provides training, and runs a website for providers. Additionally, CORE provides digital platforms and information services for newcomers through Settle In.

The Senior Community Coordinator will report to CORE’s Sr. Community Orientation Officer. This role will support CORE’s capacity-building initiatives, specifically handling technical assistance for community partner, volunteer, and sponsor programs and assisting with resource development that supports newcomers arriving through the Uniting for Ukraine program.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews to inform work plan activities that supports community integration and navigation of U.S. systems for Ukrainian newcomers;
  • Develop in coordination with relevant stakeholders CO provider-facing and refugee-facing resources where appropriate, such as designing an extended Cultural Orientation curriculum;
  • As needed and requested, provide training to resettlement staff and sponsors on how to use and navigate CORE’s community Cultural Orientation resources;
  • Provide technical assistance to resettlement staff that improves community Cultural Orientation programs;
  • Annually, conduct quality assurance on CORE’s provider-facing resources for community partners and sponsors;
  • Support communication activities, such as CORE’s newsletter, email campaign, and emails with partners as appropriate;
  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities, including quarterly reporting related to CORE’s community Cultural Orientation activities;
  • Support partnership activities with technical assistance organizations such as Switchboard, Welcome US, Refugee Welcome Collective and Community Sponsorship Hub;
  • Represent CORE at meetings, internal and external workshops and conferences, and other events, as needed;
  • Collaborate with other CORE staff to ensure maximum visibility and integration of all new CORE resources.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • Minimum 1-3 years related work experience, preferably in refugee resettlement, delivery of Cultural Orientation programming, and development of provider-facing resources;
  • Experience working with national and/or local resettlement partners or volunteer programs preferred;
  • Demonstrated command of PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners;
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines;
  • Strong commitment to social service or humanitarian assistance programs and willingness to adhere to IRC’s code of conduct;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the US Refugee Admissions Program and Cultural Orientation programs preferred;
  • The ability to be flexible and work well in a fast-paced team environment.
