iMMAP France is a non for profit organization that provides information management services to humanitarian and development organizations. Through information management, we help our partners target assistance to the world’s most vulnerable populations ad we support local authorities and institutions to enhance their capacities and become autonomous in their internal data and information management activities.

Background
The Senior Climate Analyst will lead a full remote team that will work on the State of the environment reporting (SOER), that represents an instrumental way of developing and communicating environmental information to decision makers for the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) mission in Kuwait. SOER can also provide an early warning of emerging environmental problems (Emerging Issues); and identify knowledge and information deficiencies impeding the understanding and interpretation of environmental conditions and trends. In this context, the Kuwait Environment Public Authority (KEPA) recognized the importance of developing a state of environment report which will be an important pillar for setting a baseline for all future environmental policies and strategies in Kuwait, by using the methodology adopted by UNEP known as the Integrated Environmental Assessment and the Drivers-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) framework.

Description of Duties
The Senior Climate Analyst is responsible for leadership and coordination of program planning and management; coordination of the full remote team and implementation of the project.
· Execute overall project management and guide the project set-up, including developing work plans, coordinate with HQ on financial tasks.
· Monitor staff performance to ensure all milestones set in the annual work plan are met, develop mitigation plans to reduce risks and take corrective actions to remedy any deviation from the work plans.
· Guide knowledge development, documentation and communication and branding in close collaboration with iMMAP France headquarters, guided by donor and client expectations.
· Write the final report highlighting all identified indicators (including data source, metadata, methodology, etc.).

Project Management
– Provide programmatic leadership & team management in the development and implementation of the project.
– Ensure high quality of project and program planning with effective delivery and fulfilment of objectives.
– Manage a comprehensive activity plan, including resource needs analysis, covering the time frame.
Technical guidance
– Lead on analytical and research work in the thematic areas of Climate and Environment;
– Lead all project reporting activities;
– Support the development of training material for the remote and in person workshops.
– Deliver remote and in person workshops to project partners in collaboration with the senior IMO.
– Ensure the inclusion of cross-cutting issues in the sector’s response, as per the project ToR..
Program Supervision
– Establish and maintain solid communication channels with project stakeholders including UNEP and KEPA teams;
– Provide guidance and support to project team
– Tasks, delegates, and follow-up on the daily activities of the unit members
– Effectively coordinate and delegate the planned activities to ensure timely delivery of product.
Representation
– Represent the iMMAP France office in front of the client and of any other relevant stakeholder;
– Follow iMMAP France branding regulations required for marketing or branding of all iMMAP products and correspondence.

Requirements
Education

– Postgraduate degree (MSc and/or Ph.D) in Climate, Environment, Agriculture and Natural resources, International Development, or relevant field.
Experience
– Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Analyst required in the thematic area of Climate, climate mitigation and climate change in the humanitarian sector.
– Good understanding of project cycle management of climate and the sustainable livelihood framework
– Experience in donors and partnership relationships, representation with a wide range of organizations and stakeholders.
– Experience in managing a team remotely and in deliver with tight schedule.
– Previous experience in writing reports for UN donors desirable.

Languages:

-English fluent

-Arabic an asset

– Technical writing skills including developing proposals and reports.
– Ability to have a global overview of a program.

– Sound knowledge of the existing emergency market system mapping and analysis tools (EMMA, PCMA), familiar with systemic analysis and the M4P approaches.
– Proven technical capacity and knowledge contribution through publication of research articles with impact factor.
– Ability to work based on objectives.
