The Senior Business Development Associate provides coordination and proposal development support as part of the Business Development team at IRI.

Position Requirements

  • Undergraduate/graduate degree in political/social science, international relations or related field and/or a minimum of one year of professional experience in the international development or business development sectors.

  • Demonstrated understanding of business and proposal development processes, whether in international development or another sector.

  • Strong organizational skills, execution of tasks, and attention to detail required.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, coordinate and effectively meet program goals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Experience working on and contributing to USG proposals.
  • Ability to work remotely with effective time management.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, working on multiple overlapping projects.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Serves as proposal coordinator for assigned proposals, both competitive and for pre-competed mechanisms
  • Supports proposal teams with completing proposal components, particularly annexes and attachments, in accordance with donor and solicitation requirements.
  • Coordinates with IRI’s Center for Global Impact and Communities of Practice to update and maintain IRI’s thematic capacity statements, compile USG-formatted past performance references (PPRs) to be used for IRI proposal development and other coordination efforts.
  • Reviews USAID Development Experience Clearing House emails and highlights notable reports and/or evaluations related to ongoing IRI new business efforts. In coordination with the BD Manager, circulates the information to relevant program teams.
  • Works with HR/Recruitment to draft Key Personnel templates to have on hand and customize for specific competitive bids.
  • Assists in facilitating new business orientation sessions.
  • Conducts proposal-related research and analysis to assist regional divisions in positioning for competitive proposals prior to the release of solicitations.
  • Coordinates with divisions on compiling information from info-gathering trips and other in-country meetings to better build knowledge that informs new business strategies.
  • Assists BD Director and BD Manager in preparing for and facilitating regional/country mapping meetings.
  • Assists with the development of BD training materials for IRI staff.
