
Avon and Somerset Police
Our Estates and Facilities department are responsible for the management of our 80+ police sites across the Avon and Somerset area. These buildings consist of police stations, training facilities, horse and dog units, custody suites and police headquarters to name just a few.
Your role will be to provide technical leadership and effectively manage the delivery of building surveying services throughout all of our estates. You will need to work efficiently in our fast paced, ever changing environment to successfully provide an competent service to our police officers, support staff and our communities.
Reporting to our Principle Surveyor, you will lead a specialist team of qualified surveyors, delivering real-time building construction, alteration and estate management services.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing and encouraging innovation
- Play a key role in agreeing budgetary spend by providing detailed costs plans and conveying complex and/or technical issues to non-technical managers to make informed decisions
- Lead on Health & Safety issues including audit, inspection, monitoring and rectification of building safety faults
- Commission and project manage building refurbishment, repair, maintenance and improvement works
- Prepare specifications and drawings for building improvement and maintenance schemes, obtaining building control and planning consents where required
- Produce necessary tender documentation
- Act as main point of contact for internal stakeholders and external contractors, before, during and at completion of any works. Providing guidance and advise throughout
Skills And Experience
- Hold a Chartered Member of the RICS (building Surveyors Division), CIOB or equivalent
- Have significant (post qualification) experience in estate and budgetary management
- Experience of planning and delivering large scale projects
- Confident in the procurement of high value contracts
- Confident communicator with experience of influencing and negotiating
- Experience of managing a team
