Senior Building Operations Officer

About the role

The Building Operations team is responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the building, providing a consistently high level of customer service, and works flexibly alongside a building with many uses. The Senior Building Operations Officer will be a proactive and keen to get ‘stuck in’, practical and able to work across a broad range of tasks, as well as be willing to work unsociable hours on a rotation basis.

As a Senior Building Operations Officer you will focus on:

  • Acting as one of the building’s Duty Managers and carrying out Health & Safety inductions of all new staff members.
  • Training other team members on certain specialist tasks such as AV, Evac Chair, Manual Handling.
  • Leading on some small-scale projects.

Your main responsibilities as Senior Building Operations Officer:

  • Ensure the smooth, safe running of all activity at MCD and the security of the building.
  • Acting as Duty Manager and being a point of escalation for the building operations team.
  • Act as a key point of contact in the building; delivering the highest level of customer service, both to internal and external customers.
  • Support the Building Operations Supervisor with the induction and training of new team members, and health and safety inductions of all new staff members.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Selection Criteria

As a Senior Building Operations Officer you will need to demonstrate that you have:

  • Experience of working in Building Operations, Front of House, Events or venue management in a customer facing role
  • Ability to understand the varied requirements of working in the performing arts or cultural sector
  • Ability to work to a shift pattern including early morning, evening and weekend shifts
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise your own workload in order to manage a varied task list and meet deadlines
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with co-workers and other internal and external contacts
  • Ability to take on additional duties to support training, allocation of duties, rota management and supervision of team members as required
