This Senior BRC Risk Advisor position is within the Business Risk & Controls (BRC) organization’s Centralized Control Testing (CTT) team. The BRC Risk Advisor’s primary responsibility is to work closely with line of business management and others in the BRC to complete Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) Testing in GRC for assigned controls. This role is an individual contributor role; however, the individual that fills this senior role will have an opportunity to act in a leadership capacity with fellow team members. This is a position for individuals who are looking to deepen their knowledge and influence risk mitigation activities across various lines of business and within the Centralized Testing Team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with relevant line of business management and BRC LOB Support team members
  • Perform quarterly assessments of testing, while appropriately escalating testing exceptions or unsatisfactory controls, as needed. Testing may be complex or voluminous in nature.
  • Independently gather information from source systems and execute test steps to efficiently and accurately identify control weaknesses; summarize and document results for management; summarize test results across multiple testers for senior management
  • Maintain strong understanding of risk management requirements related to RSCA testing and provide guidance to Centralized Testing Team members
  • Maintain and deepen understanding of the risks and controls within multiple lines of business
  • Apply critical thinking skills to evaluate and provide feedback and recommendations on all GRC content including inherent risks, control designs, test procedures, test results, including associated Findings and Remediation Plans
  • Proactively identify instances where testing procedures are not appropriate or can be enhanced and instances where potential efficiencies may be gained in future RCSA testing. Proactively work with BRC LOB Support team members to have enhancements completed
  • Collaborate with process owners and risk partners to achieve results aligned with a strong control environment
  • Remain informed of changes in the regulatory environment; Monitor and review changes in requirements by collaborating with the risk partners and process owners
  • Lead, manage and prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to create value and achieve stated goals and objectives
  • Effectively summarize and communicate (written and verbal) obstacles and solutions to control owners, BRC partners, and senior management
  • Independently lead and execute on special projects, as assigned
  • Periodically review testing of team members and provide feedback and coaching
  • Identify opportunities to provide relevant training to Centralized Testing team members, BRC LOB Support team members, or other risk partners

Required Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience with emphasis on business and risk management
  • Minimum 5+ years of banking industry knowledge with experience in one or more of the following: compliance, audit, risk management or relevant line of business
  • Strong organization skills and ability to independently handle multiple concurrent and diverse activities, with the ability to shift focus based on changing and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, build and manage relationships, and work in a dynamic, fast paced team environment
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, various web-based software applications, databases and mainframe applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, decision making, and ability to lead continuous improvement activities
  • Proficient understanding of consumer, commercial and corporate banking businesses and processes, and related federal and laws, regulations and guidance
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with external and internal clients including executive managers, to support building and sustaining collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrate team work and accountability with the ability to collaborate with and influence control owners and risk partners to achieve results aligned with a strong control environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust the format of summary information based upon the intended audience

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $59,300 to $110,100 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
