The Senior Auditor (IT Focus) reports to the Chief Internal Audit Division.
Responsibilities
– Manages and conducts audits of UNRWA’s processes and systems for governance, risk
management and internal controls at Field and HQ locations, and reports according to
international audit standards and Department of Internal Oversight Services (DIOS) practices
and procedures; submits draft reports to Chief, Internal Audit Division (CIAD);
– Follows up on actions taken by management on audit recommendations issued in DIOS
audit reports; monitors and assesses the status of implementation of auditee actions taken;
prepares correspondences for CIAD auditee distribution;
– Performs quality reviews of other audit work papers and reports, for accuracy, methodology
used, soundness of conclusions, and adherence to international audit standards and DIOS
practices and procedures;
– Assists CIAD in the development and monitoring of internal audit work tools and practices,
and conducts IT risk assessment in preparation of strategic plan, annual planning and
reporting documents.

Education
– Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational
institution in Accountancy, IT, business administration or other discipline related to the main
functions of the post;
Job Specific Qualifications
Certification of a professional body of auditors such as Institute of Internal Auditors,
Information Systems Audit and Control Association, or the Institute of Chartered or Certified
Public Accountants or equivalent is required.
Certified Information Systems Auditor qualification and experience auditing in SAP
environment is desirable
Work Experience
At least eight years of progressively responsible professional relevant experience, primarily in
audits over IT systems and controls, and in operational and management with a large
governmental, international or commercial organization; and experience in advanced IT tools
such as data analytics is required.
Unless already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System, a
candidate for an international post must have at least two continuous years of relevant
international experience outside UNRWA, and outside the country(s) of which the candidate
is a national or holds citizenship, a passport, or a national identity number is required.
Certified Information Systems Auditor qualification and experience auditing in SAP
environment is desirable.
Working knowledge of UN financial rules, regulations and procedures is desirable.
Good knowledge of the conditions prevailing in the Agency’s area of operations with the
ability to appraise and evaluate the implications of economic, political, cultural and historical
variables in those regions is desirable.
Languages
– Excellent command of written and spoken English.
– Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be
followed by competency-based interview.
Special Notice
Type of Contract and duration: 2 years, with the possibility of further extension.

A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying
