Senior Auditor – Americas

Through the delivery of independent, objective, timely and insightful risks-based audit, OIAI provides assurance over IFRC’s core humanitarian objectives, drives positive change through value adding recommendations and advice, supports the enhancement of risk management and operational processes, and acts as a critical friend for IFRC’s leadership and operations.

The Senior Auditor in the Americas Region will contribute to the delivery OIAI’s annual risk-based audit plan and wider assurance and consultancy activities, undertaking the full cycle of audit work. The Senior Auditor will take a leading role in the delivery of audits across the region, identifying key risks and making value-adding suggestions. While this position is based in the Americas (Panama), it includes audit work and missions across IFRC’s global operations and involves regular travel within the region and globally.

The Senior of Audit, working with the Head of Audit, will act as a trusted adviser to the Americas Regional Office and IFRC audit clients, and act as a subject matter expert on audit and assurance, risk management, governance, and control.

Position Requirements

Experience

  • Recent professional experience in audit, assurance, or risk management.
  • 5 years’ xxperience delivering risk based audit and assurance reviews, including planning, scoping, testing design and delivery, report writing, and client engagement
  • Experience in the humanitarian, development, or not for profit sector – Preferred
  • Experience working internationally – Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Language

  • Sound knowledge of risk-based audit methodologies and practices.
  • A good understanding of the principles and application of good corporate governance, risk management, and effective internal controls.
  • A sound understanding of organisational risk, including contextual, financial, delivery, and operational risk.
  • Knowledge of audit testing and risk assessment techniques.
  • Good knowledge of IT auditing techniques – Preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with different audiences, adapting style to fit different situations.
  • Ability to gather, analyse, and evaluate facts, and prepare and present concise oral and written reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the organisation.
  • Experience delivering training and capacity building activities – Preferred
  • Working knowledge of whistleblowing and reporting principles and good practice – Preferred

Languages:

  • Fluent spoken and written English. Fluent spoken and written Spanish. Good command of another IFRC official language (French or Arabic) – Preferred
