Senior Associate, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) and Research Skills to Succeed (S2S)

Summary

In this role, you will check the quality of data collected and conduct data analysis, thereby ensuring that adherence to quality monitoring and evaluation (M&E) standards in accordance to Skills to Succeed (S2S) Program frames and processes. In close collaboration with the Advisor, MEAL and Research S2S, you will develop and implement evaluation and research studies, and promote program learning and accountability globally, especially in each S2S country. You will also support program technical activities. You will be responsible for knowledge management and will work with the program team on communications to promote thought leadership in the youth employment field, internally and externally.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) & Research Tasks (70%)

  • Coordinate regular MEAL team calls with Country Offices (COs) by scheduling and leading the meetings, taking notes, and disseminating and following up on action items
  • Collect, process, analyze, and visualize global and country-level program data for donor reports, dashboards and other communication assets in close collaboration with the Advisor, MEAL & Research S2S.
  • Conduct literature reviews, provide feedback on research protocols and data collection tools, and review research reports in order to contribute to the design and implementation of evaluation and research studies.
  • Develop Indicator Reference Sheets, MEAL toolkits, MEAL workplans, and monitoring tools, such as baseline and endline surveys to support implementation and management of MEAL systems.
  • Manage the global Learning for Action process by identifying learning topics, conducting data collection and analysis, disseminating results and working in conjunction with Save the Children (SCUS) staff to implement action items.
  • Provide COs with training and technical assistance on promoting internal program learning, and developing and revising their Learning for Action plans.
  • Systematically monitor, clean, analyze and manage data using Excel and Stata. Ensure accuracy of records and documentation of any data changes done to original datasets and/or questionnaires.
  • Manage Ethics Review Committee (ERC) submission process, including training staff, reviewing and revising research protocols and tools, submitting and tracking submissions, and responding to questions from ERC
  • Support proposal writing activities as needed and liaise with the new business development (NBD) team.

Support Global Programs on Reporting (10%)

  • Assure compliance with donor’s M&E guidance by serving as a resource for CO staff.
  • Collaborate closely with global program teams to guarantee donor requirements are met for indicator reporting, target-setting, assessments and data collection.
  • Support development of reporting templates and tools.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity and security by serving as a resource to global programs teams.
  • Review data submissions during reporting semi-annual periods. Work with Advisor, MEAL and Research S2S to captures cumulative data.
  • Work with CO to ensure the correct indicator definitions are applied.

Knowledge Management and Communication Tasks (20%)

  • Manage Quarterly S2S Newsletter by planning editorial calendar, assigning writing tasks, contributing and editing, designing layout, and publishing every three months.
  • Support Sr. Director S2S in the planning and facilitation of quarterly learning calls and, annual global learning events.
  • Produce communications assets (articles, brochures, videos, blogs, etc.) and work with partners to place the assets in appropriate channels whether internal or external, i.e. newsletters, websites, social media, meetings, etc.
  • Write and edit program/country summaries, capability statements and/or briefs on priority topics for thought leadership and NBD as needed.
  • Maintain and submit quarterly reports regarding knowledge products produced by S2S and answer queries for access to products.
  • Upload documents to the S2S Resource Site that support the sharing of knowledge with and learning of country teams.
  • Improve and maintain S2S knowledge management systems, internal and external.
  • Update contacts and electronic mailing lists a few times a year.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience in report writing and dissemination.
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness and availability overlap with colleagues for at least (5) five hours during Eastern Standard Time (EST)
  • Willingness and availability to participate in early morning and/or late night (EST) calls with teams in Asia at least once a week, occasionally more frequently.
  • Willingness and availability to travel internationally up to 30%.
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in monitoring and evaluation and/or knowledge management.
  • Experience in youth, livelihoods and/or youth employment programming
  • Foreign language proficiency in Bahasa Indonesian. Bengali, Italian, Mandarin, Spanish, and/or Vietnamese.
  • Experience with Stata software.

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1- NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Up to $65,000/ year
  • Geo 2-Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Up to $59,000/ year
  • Geo 3-Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Up to $53,000/year
  • For locations outside of the United States, compensation is based on Save the Children International pay scales in that country, which are different from Save the Children US’s published scales, which are reflective of the local economy.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
