Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems and solutions within the market they serve. They use their knowledge to help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues and execute new practices that propel clients’ businesses toward key objectives. They publish these insights as pragmatic and/or provocative research. Additionally, they reinforce Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits, Gartner conferences and industry events.

The successful candidate is an expert in cloud-native infrastructure based on containers and Kubernetes, with strong DevOps knowledge. The candidate will focus on written and customer-facing deliverables aimed at the technical staff who face the challenges of implementing cloud-based infrastructure solutions.

Key areas of focus include actionable implementation guidance and practices for implementing containers and Kubernetes using products such as:

  • Red Hat OpenShift
  • VMware Tanzu
  • Rancher

Experience with VMware virtualization or private cloud is also an advantage.

The candidate should also have experience with cloud providers such as:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud Platform
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
  • IBM Cloud
  • Alibaba Cloud

Experience with the serverless capabilities on these platforms is an advantage.

The candidate should have experience with the technical capabilities of many of the listed cloud platforms and Kubernetes products. In addition, the ideal candidate would have experience with practicing DevOps using containers and Kubernetes, including implementing workflows and pipelines for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). Experience with emerging practices for deploying containers on Kubernetes such as GitOps are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively write and publish analysis and positions at a regular cadence through evidence-based research
  • Create compelling, technical research on cloud computing topics, aimed at IT practitioners
  • Provide professional representation of Gartner’s brand, research, insights, and analysis to technical teams in Gartner’s client base
  • Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions
  • Apply personal experience and technical expertise to an array of clients, situations and industries
  • Communicate complex concepts concisely and with authority
  • Work with Gartner Sales executives to attract, engage and retain Gartner customers.
  • Proactively contribute to thought leadership and research communities
  • Develop and deliver presentations to clients and prospects virtually and at Gartner events

Qualifications

  • Experience with technical capabilities of major public cloud providers and Kubernetes products
  • Ability to define how organizations should develop and implement containers and Kubernetes based on required use cases
  • Experience working with technical architecture and implementation teams
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
