Bodhi Global Analysis is an international development research consultancy firm with offices in the UK, Kenya, and Singapore. Bodhi is committed to introducing academic rigour into policy research to enable international development stakeholders to deliver more effective outcomes, which are embedded in a sound understanding of the political economy and conflict dynamics of the contexts in which they work.

Bodhi has identified an exciting opportunity to deliver research services in Somalia, with a focus on political economy analysis, peace and conflict analysis, and governance assessments. We are looking for Senior Analysts/Analysts based in the UK and/or Kenya to support this work by, among others, leading research and analysis activities, developing research methodologies, and producing high quality research products. The role may require sporadic travel to Mogadishu for meetings and presentations.

Please note that these roles are project-specific and that the successful candidates will only be contracted if we are successful in securing the project.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead research design, including the development of methodologies and data collection tools
  • Lead data analysis, drafting, and presentation to different government, international, and academic audiences and stakeholders
  • Provide technical assistance to local research partners through mentoring and coaching
  • Coordinate research activities to ensure research products are in line with requirements
  • Ensure that research products are in compliance with Bodhi’s and our client’s quality standard

Person Specification – Senior Analyst

  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research in fragile and conflict affected contexts, including 3-5 years of experience in Somalia
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field, including international development, sociology, conflict/peace studies, political economy, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering research projects and activities related to peace, conflict, political economy, and governance
  • Demonstrated experience authoring and presenting research to different audiences including international, government, and NGO stakeholders
  • Desirable: Experience utilising quantitative and qualitative data analysis and GIS mapping
