About this opportunity**

This exciting new post is part of the British Red Cross’ new Volunteering and Youth team within People Services. This new team, created as part of a recent transformation programme, will set the future direction for volunteering and youth engagement at the BRC and support the entire organisation to ensure volunteers and young people are engaged in meaningful ways that work for them and help deliver our strategy. **As the Senior Advisor – Youth Strategy and Policy, you’ll work collaboratively to help design accessible age-appropriate pathways to enable young people to give their time and talents to support our mission in ways that are innovative, safe, empowering and resonate with young people’s needs and wants, supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of the youth engagement elements of the volunteer and youth mobilisation strategy.

You’ll manage a portfolio of discovery projects to develop, test and build opportunities for young people’s engagement, source and collate relevant desk research, and provide advice, guidance and assurance to teams across the British Red Cross to create the enabling environments for young people to thrive as partners in delivering our corporate strategy.

This role might be for you if…**

  • You have experience of managing competing priorities and changing requirements, from project initiation through to continuous improvement and of undertaking primary and secondary research
  • You can demonstrate proven experience of contributing to developing and implementing strategy or policy to achieve organisational objectives
  • You can manage multiple projects and stakeholder groups, prioritising your work to flex with changing business needs
  • You have the ability to communicate in a clear and engaging way, keeping people informed in the right way at the right time, listening as much as speaking and can make the complex easy to understand
  • You have a curious mind with the ability to ask pertinent questions in order to data to draw out narrative
  • You understand the principles of youth participation & legislation surrounding it, along with the principles of keeping young people safe and are confident you can apply these practically
  • You are a collaborator and can build positive relationships with colleagues to achieve your goals or shared goals.

**About the Team

The new Volunteering and Youth function will provide recruitment, deployment and retention support, based on prioritised need. A key aspect is the delivery of high-quality volunteer management support across the organisation, ensuring that those responsible for volunteers have the skills to always deliver a high-quality experience for them. The function also houses our award-winning Volunteer Support Line, a vital and valued service to support our volunteers wellbeing.
