Mō te tūnga | The role

As a Senior Advisor – Workforce Planning, you will be responsible for implementing and refining the Census end-to-end workforce planning process, ensuring that people resources are managed and that our planning addresses our critical capability requirements. To achieve this, you will work across 2023 Census Programme, partnering with the Programme Director, Workstream Leads and colleagues in People and Culture, Finance and the Programme Management Office (PMO) as the lead for workforce planning for Census. You’ll utilise your skills and expertise with data and your workforce planning experience to enable others to manage and forecast their people resources, and identify and implement opportunities for improvement.

  • Prepare the agenda, circulate invitations and capture actions and chair the meeting for the weekly Resource Management Forum (RMF)
  • Forecast future resource needs, in conjunction with senior leaders and colleagues
  • Create resource reports for the resource management forum, the Programme Leadership Team and the Board.
  • Provide a leadership role so that Managers/ Programme Coordinators and EA’s can better support the way consultants and contractors are onboarded and offboarded across the Programme.
  • Facilitate sessions with hiring managers and senior leaders to effectively plan future resourcing requirements
  • Continually assess resource related processes and ensure they are fit for purpose

Mōu | About you

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
  • 5-8 years equivalent / relevant work experience, for example working in a project management Office (PMO) or as a Project Manager.
  • Knowledge and understanding of strategic workforce planning
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to build trust and effective relationships
  • Be an advanced user of Excel and able to learn new systems easily
  • Experience / knowledge of te ao Māori or an interest to learn more
