Summary

The Senior Advisor, Global Health Knowledge Management will drive and oversee strategy, technical direction, and operational management for the Healthy Newborn Network (HNN), an online community dedicated to addressing critical knowledge gaps in maternal and newborn health (MNH). The focus of HNN will expand in 2022 to bring together partner organizations and individuals working in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAHN) to share key resources, data, experiences, and lessons, and help increase global commitment to the advancement of these areas. In addition, you will provide technical documentation and knowledge management (KM) support (technical writing, editing, events, and product development) for the Department of Global Health (DGH) in various technical health thematic areas, including adolescent nutrition, climate change and health, and equity.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Technical Direction for the Healthy Newborn Network (HNN) (50% LOE)

  • Work closely with DGH leadership, technical leaders and experts, and the KM Senior Advisor to develop an updated, overarching vision and strategy to position HNN as the key knowledge platform working with partners to advance RMNCAHN worldwide.
  • Oversee and expand HNN’s internal and external relationships and partner engagement to strengthen and evolve site content and broaden our reach.
  • Support KM Senior Advisor to develop a strategic content and dissemination plan to meet the needs of and engage key audiences.
  • Provide regular technical review and project management for planned key site updates and special projects.
  • Review and update issue pages and site thematic content.

Operational Management of HNN (25% LOE)

  • In collaboration with expanded HNN team, lead the development and implementation of a workplan and budget for HNN and related channels that support the HNN vision and strategy.
  • Manage regular team meetings and ensure workplan tasks are on track and deadlines are met.
  • Oversee efforts of the knowledge management team and ensure they have the support needed to successfully execute the HNN content and dissemination plan.

Technical Documentation and Knowledge Management (25% LOE)

  • Execute various technical writing/editing and knowledge management activities for programs and initiatives, such as writing technical briefs, reports, and other knowledge and learning products.
  • Develop presentations, webinars or learning events, or key messaging for online content engagement/dissemination.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in priority issues related to RMNCAHN, such as management and support of RMNCAHN projects and technical and promotional writing for related issues
  • Demonstrated team/project management and strategic planning skills, with the ability to prioritize and address competing demands
  • Demonstrated experience with managing and contributing to website strategy/design/content/engagement
  • Understanding of and experience implementing KM best practices/tactics/activities
  • Experience in the development of technical, knowledge management, and/or advocacy strategies with proven leadership designing and implementing results-oriented workplans and initiatives for global impact
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills and ability to communicate and adapt technical information for target audiences
  • Experience with CMS and web design software, ideally WordPress
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite for print and web products, social media, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MPH/MS/MA in maternal and newborn health or related area
  • Experience with increasing knowledge capture and visibility for global health learning and best practices
  • Additional, non-English language proficiency a plus
