The Public Partnerships Division leads and works with UNICEF country offices, regional offices, and other headquarters divisions to drive public sector fundraising, leveraging, and advocacy to increase income and influence from partnerships and engagement with public sector to deliver results for children. PPD serves as the UNICEF global knowledge leader on resource mobilization and partnership with public sector partners, including governments, international financial institutions, public-private partnerships (such as Global Programme Partnerships), inter-governmental and UN inter-organizational arrangements.
How can you make a difference?
Under the direct supervision of the Division’s Deputy Director, the Senior Advisor leads the Humanitarian Partnerships and Financing Team composed of three other staff members at the Professional level.
The Senior Advisor for Humanitarian Partnerships and Financing is accountable for leadership and overall managerial support to the organization in a broad range of policy issues related to humanitarian partnerships and financing, including building and managing partnerships, development of humanitarian financing policies and strengthening of internal systems for greater accountability and reporting. The Senior Advisor leads the coordination of resource mobilization efforts for humanitarian response globally, including solutions to maximize quality funding to support preparedness and response to humanitarian and protection needs, particularly of the most vulnerable children. In this role, the incumbent ensures effective flow of information and coordination internally within UNICEF (within PPD, EMOPS as well as with relevant divisions, regional and country offices) and externally within inter-agency/inter-governmental humanitarian financing fora, the IASC, Good Humanitarian Donorship Group, Pooled Fund Working Group (PFWG) and others.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Advanced university degree (Masters’ or higher) in social and economic sciences or related field is required.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience at national and international levels in the area of social and economic development and cooperation, preferably fundraising in an international organization.
- Specialized training in international relations and policy desirable.
- Experience at national and international levels in the area of social and economic development and cooperation, preferably fundraising in an international organization.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
