Job Title: Senior Accounting Associate

Department/Location: Accounting/ Vienna, VA

Reports To: Deputy Controller

Type: Regular Full-Time

Classification: Non-exempt

Overview:

The Senior Accounting Associate is primarily responsible for ensuring that accounting transactions are processed in compliance with company policy and government regulations. This position will serve in a lead role and provide guidance, support and training to accounting associates. The Senior Accounting Associate will contribute to continuous process improvements and address complex accounting and system set-up issues as required. The Senior Accounting Associate will review accounting documents from the home and field offices for accuracy and completeness. These documents support the monthly field office accounting transactions that are uploaded to the home office accounting system. The Senior Accounting Associate will prepare home office and monthly project office voucher packages and ensure that all transactions are reconciled to the home office accounting system in compliance with company policy and government regulations. The Senior Accounting Associate will also be responsible for financial reporting, client billing, audit and other accounting functions as needed. Experience with Deltek Costpoint and QuickBooks highly desired.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist employee setup in Deltek for new employees and issue seats.
  • Assist closing payroll timesheets.
  • Assist if needed with processing weekly Bill-Pay in M&T.
  • Process all cash receipts.
  • Compile and review monthly project billings.
  • Collaborate during audits by providing requested information as needed.
  • Respond to requests from consultants, vendors and employees by researching and interpreting data.
  • Prepare account reconciliations as required.
  • Recommend and participate in process improvements and opportunities to streamline the workflow.
  • Assist with entering A/P vouchers.
  • Backup for bank reconciliations and AMEX reconciliation.
  • Reconciliation of Prepaid on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in DCCA and External Audits
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years full time experience in accounting or finance.
  • 2 years of experience with Deltek/Costpoint and QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in accounting and finance.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Strict attention to detail required.
  • Ability and willingness to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Federal contracting experience.
  • Experience with USAID contracts.
  • Budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Observe the highest standards of business ethics and comply with all laws, regulations, and contract requirements that are applicable to the Company’s business.

Working Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment in the Home Office located in Vienna VA.

Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has not supervisory responsibilities.

Travel: International travel may be required and may include travel to fragile and/or conflict-prone zones.

Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
