SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

The starting salary for this role is £21,943 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to work within our Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture Service. The service has just undergone a rapid transformation and we are looking for proactive individuals to join us in moving forward with continuous improvement and working towards robust and positive outcomes for our children and young people.

On a day to day basis you will be working with colleagues within one of our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teams, supporting families of children with special needs and disabilities. You will provide bespoke delivery plans that best assist the child and the family. A passionate approach will drive forward improvement and your effective organisation and communication skills will ensure you deliver high quality work.

You will also act as the first point of contact for all general SEND calls, dealing effectively with enquiries wherever possible or referring to the relevant Officer as required. With this in mind, experience of liaising with members of the public and professionals, together with the ability to handle potentially difficult telephone calls in a calm, sensitive manner will be important.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • Knowledge or experience of SEND and a willingness to develop this further
  • An ability to communicate well with colleagues and families
  • Excellent administrative and IT skills

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
