Security Reception Officer

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Security Officer to be based mainly at one site across London. In return, you will receive highly competitive hourly rates subject to the sites you will work across.

OBJECTIVE

To work as a reception Security Officer, providing a high level of customer service. As the first point of contact for all staff and visitors entering the building. Liaising with the client and the building tenants. Managing all Contractors working on site. Ensuring the protection of persons and property and thereby the provision of a safe and secure environment.

DUTIES

  • First point of contact for tenants, visitors and contractors liaising with the client, tenant’s and contractors. Take responsibility for reporting any issues to the client’s maintenance team and/or the Asset Manager.
  • Allow access to 150 Brompton Road via 140 Brompton Road reception area, directing all contractors to 140 Brompton Road reception. Monitor all contractors on site and ensure they are signed in.
  • Overseeing special projects taking place on site. Appraise the client and UniTrust Contract Manager on such projects and key site related information.
  • Monitor the lift usage and function. Notify CPML of any problems and ensure the lifts are not used for retail/restaurant deliveries.
  • Management of the fire alarm system, isolations weekly testing every Friday in conjunction with a CPML engineer. Ensure every test is recorded in the log book.
  • Produce a report in relation to the 6 monthly fire drill and forward to the client.
  • Ensure basic fire precautions are in place and means of escape are clear.
  • Unlocking of the building ‘opening up patrol’, access control, patrolling, reception duties, general security duties and carryout ‘locking up patrol’ each evening
  • Carrying out regular building inspection checks and escalate in accordance with clients set process.
  • Ensure the car park, front steps and frontages are kept litter free.
  • The protection of a client’s property against loss, theft, damage including fire and water and waste
  • The protection of private property belonging to the client, their staff and visitors against loss, theft and damage
  • Prevent offences against the law of the land, UniTrust disciplinary codes and policies and ensure all are brought to the attention of the management
  • Process all mail and deliveries to site and deliver to the relevant tenants.
  • Monitor CCTV and investigate any suspicious activity ensuring both the Contract Manager and client are kept up to date. Report any system faults to the maintenance team
  • Maintain a key log.
  • Ensure compliance with UniTrust and the clients Health and Safety policy reporting any issues to the maintenance team but dealing with minor issues yourself i.e. spillages, signage etc.
  • Grit car park and ramp when required.
  • To comply with applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, laws and accepted safe work practices. You will have a duty to take care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions at work
  • Additional ad-hoc duties and any reasonable requests from the client or Contract Manager in relation to the overall role

RESPONDING TO

  • All fire alarms and related emergencies
  • Bomb alerts and all other types of related emergencies
  • All other types of incidents (e.g. floods, gas leaks, defective lifts etc.)
  • Intruders and other crime-related incidents
  • Providing in all cases, assistance in accordance with instructions and training
  • Logistics, minor maintenance
  • Carrying out in a professional and diligent manner all other duties properly assignable to the position

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION

  • Officers must have the Security Industry Training Organisation basic qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Carry and be capable or using all security equipment necessary to efficiently perform the duties required of a professional security officer
  • Good literacy and communication skills and have excellent verbal and written English
  • Possess a good telephone manner
  • Be computer literate, E-mail, Word and Excel.
  • A consistently smart appearance in the uniform provided and required by UniTrust
  • Reliability, energetic, self-motivation and ability to use own initiative and work without supervision. Be able to cope with times of little or no actively
  • Excellent punctuality , as will be responsible for opening the building up each day
  • The ability, tact and diplomacy to deal with people at all levels including the client, the client’s staff and visitors in all circumstances including emergencies and other times of stress.
  • Self-confidence and an interest in self-development. The post holder must show interest in self progression and demonstrate the ability to be able to be promoted in a Supervisor / Building Manager role overseeing the responsibility of two or more sites / buildings
  • An excellent level of physical fitness to enable the post holder to perform patrol and emergency response duties efficiently and effectively.
  • The nature of the role is such that it is critical that the post holder has and will maintain an excellent record of attendance and timekeeping.
