Duties And Responsibilities
The UN Security Guard Unit is a security operation support component administratively managed under UNDP and operationally supervised by UNDSS in the Benghazi Duty Station. It is responsible for ensuring safety and security of all UNSMS personnel and protection of UN assets within the UN-Hub. The UN Security Guard is responsible to make sure unauthorized person(s) do not enter the compound of the UN Hub, by enforcement of detection, deterrence, delay, and prevention tactics. He/she is charged with the duties and responsibilities to check IDs of all person(s) before entering the premises of the UN-Hub, to ensure that they are cleared and pose no harm. He/she is charged with the duty and responsibilities to properly search all vehicles entering the compound to make sure they are not transporting harmful items or substances. Work collaboratively with the local Diplomatic Police assigned around the outer perimeter of the UN-Hub to enhance physical security protection of the compound and UNSMS personnel residing and working in UN Hub. The position is based in Benghazi, Libya under the overall supervision of the Chief Security Adviser (CSA) and the Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO).
