Part time: The position is part time 50-70% commitment. The final time % will depend on individual candidate availability.
Remuneration: Around $12,000 USD per month pro-rated, depending on time % (including Cost of Living Allowance) depending on level of experience and qualifications, plus benefits.
MAGENTA is a leading global Social and Behavioural Change (SBC) organisation that specialises in understanding human decision-making processes in order to design communications solutions for positive change in fragile and development settings. We implement programmes across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America & the Caribbean, using the latest in behavioural science principles and a rigorous approach to research, strategy, campaign design and implementation.
Our client base includes UN agencies, INGOs, governments and the private sector. We aim to amplify the voices of local actors while bringing international expertise and methodological rigour. MAGENTA has experienced rapid growth since its inception and has a focus on growing sustainably whilst maintaining our values and ethics. MAGENTA strives to build a local, nuanced presence while being able to provide SBC technical expertise across a range of markets in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. With this role, MAGENTA is seeking a passionate and motivated candidate to lead MAGENTA’s fundraising with the US government, working hand-in-hand with the Managing Director and the regional leadership to drive MAGENTA’s growth strategy from lead generation to strong programme design to effective partnership building.
We are looking for exceptional individuals, with a strong existing network within US government institutions, and implementing partners. Ideal candidates will be dynamic, have a passion for meeting new people, developing innovative solutions to old and new problems, and will be driven by a keen desire to deliver social impact. The position will be based in Washington DC, with regular travel to markets across MAGENTA’s four regions.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Programme Development & Partnerships Manager include:
Programme Development
- Design robust SBC programmes, in coordination with technical and programme teams
- Identify relevant partners in MAGENTA’s regions and build dedicated teams
- Drive the development of large, complex proposals
- Drive the submission of proposals on a regular basis
- Drive the start up of programmes, working closely with the Director of Technical and Programmes
Partnership Building
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with USG clients and partners, maintaining strong visibility for MAGENTA in the DC area.
- Identify and execute new growth strategies for MAGENTA with USG funders
Marketing & Thought Leadership
- Manage MAGENTA’s Marketing efforts, managing MAGENTA’s Growth & Marketing Intern
- Represent MAGENTA at conferences and events
- Conduct thought leadership activities such as blog articles and/or speaking engagements
Reporting
- Maintenance of MAGENTA Customer Relationship Management systems
- Production of regular regional and group level analysis and reports
Requirements & Competencies
Education:
- Relevant degree from a top tier university;
Experience:
- 8-10 years professional experience in the development sector, with a focus on SBC, behavioral science, communications for development or research;
- Strong existing network within USG funders and USG implementers
- Outstanding communicator: verbal and written;
- Knowledge of and experience living in Asia, Middle East, Africa or LatAm;
- Must be a native English speaker, second language of French or Spanish also desirable;
- Strong commercial acumen;
- Demonstrated experience successfully leading organisational growth;
Culture:
- Willingness to work in developing/post-crisis settings;
- Good sense of humour, personable and demonstrated ability to build networks;
- Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to get hands dirty;
Working Conditions
- Some flexible hours required including evening and weekends to complete tasks or attend events
- May involve working in regions that are remote and lack basic modern infrastructure
- Overseas travel should be expected for up to 20% of time.
