POSITION SUMMARY

As part of a technical assistance project under PRM-funded Resettlement & Placement activities, HIAS seeks a Safety & Security Operations Manager to operationalize a strategic approach to RA community security management. The preferred candidate has a demonstrated interest in security incident response and risk analysis as well as professional experience in humanitarian contexts. They work as part of a small team delivering best practices in safety and security risk management in support of Resettlement Agencies (RA) across the United States.

The salary range for this role is $85,000.00-90,000.00 and based in New York, New York.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Liaises with stakeholders to operationalize the strategic approach to RA and the broader resettlement community.

  • Develops and manages a platform for emergency communications/notification.

  • Develops incident response systems across RAs and the broader resettlement community.

  • Provides customized operational support to RAs and the broader resettlement community.

  • Provides incident response and advisory support to RAs and the broader resettlement community.

  • Conducts threat and vulnerability assessments and technical knowledge in security management in support of RAs and the broader resettlement community.

  • Supports the Safety & Security Advisor with incident response and advisory, threat and vulnerability assessments, as well as law enforcement engagement.

  • Ability to travel extensively across the continental U.S. up to 30% of the time.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree.

  • 4-6 years of experience in security management.

  • Proven experience in emergency operations.

  • Formal security management training.

  • Knowledge of risk assessment and security management planning.

  • Experience in site assessments required.

  • Experience as a trainer a plus.

  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and their application in humanitarian security risk management; for those without humanitarian experience, training on the history of humanitarianism and the humanitarian principles will be provided.

  • Proven ability to work within a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic team.

  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, internet and email applications; strong report writing, analytical and interpersonal skills.
