Job Overview: The Safety and Wellness Coordinator is the main representative of IRC’s health and wellness focused programming, coordinating outreach and initiatives to address barriers to health and wellness for especially vulnerable clients. The Safety and Wellness Coordinator will be expected to develop partnerships and resources to improve IRC client access to physical and mental health services, as well as provide strengths-based, client-centered case management and mental health and psychosocial supports to vulnerable client populations. This role will also work closely with the Intensive Case Management case worker and provide support to a small caseload of clients enrolled in this program. The Safety and Wellness Coordinator will also collaborate with other IRC departments to integrate mental health and psychosocial support services into existing programs through classroom instruction and alternative therapeutic interventions in group settings.

Major Responsibilities:

· Assist clients in navigating healthcare systems by supporting health plan and service provider selection. Assist clients in selecting physical and mental healthcare providers and help schedule initial appointments. Ensure each client is comfortable with contacting their specialist and with scheduling their own appointments moving forward.

· Assist the IRC to map local, state or regional resources and partnerships that can help IRC clients access mental health services.

· Collaborate closely with the Intensive Case Management team to identify healthcare needs and coordinate services for vulnerable clients.

· Maintain caseload of clients enrolled in intensive case management program

· Facilitate mental health and psychosocial support courses in collaboration with other IRC programs and teams.

· Develop series of non-clinical therapeutic interventions and facilitate in group settings with clients.

· Conduct regular outreach to healthcare providers and social service agencies to address health needs and identify resources. Advocate on behalf of clients who are having difficulty accessing services.

· Develop and distribute healthcare guides tailored to clients. Provide clients with extended orientation on a variety of topics regarding health such as women’s health, specialized treatment for people with physical disabilities, and navigating mental healthcare systems at the local level.

· Respond to client health-related crises, with guidance from supervisor as needed.

· Maintain up-to-date documentation in client’s case file to ensure services are properly documented throughout the client’s service period; document all services provided in IRC’s database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO).

· Attend relevant trainings and meetings at the local and national level.

· Manage intern and volunteer support as needed

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

· Master’s degree in social work, public health, or related field of study preferred.

· Completion of Supervisor in Field Instruction (SIFI) or ability to complete SIFI within 6 months of hire preferred.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience providing social services or health programming for vulnerable populations. Experience working with refugees and immigrants to navigate American social/human service systems preferred.

· Minimum of 1 years of experience providing mental health and psychosocial support services.

· Ability to handle complex and sensitive cases and to work effectively with clients who have a wide range of psychosocial, protection, health, immigration, and criminal justice issues.

· Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.

· Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

· Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

· Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.

· Fluency in English required, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group preferred, including Spanish, French, Dari, and Pashto.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.

Working Environment:

· A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

· May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
