Location: UK (remote working) Contract: Part Time 3 month Fixed Term Contract Salary: £18,000 pro rata

Purpose of role as Safety and Security Intern

Our Global security team are looking for a smart, career minded intern to join them on a fixed term contract this Summer. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or other suitable professional to gain exposure within the INGO sector at international level.

The post-holder will support Sightsavers global security team with a number of research and administrative tasks. This will include conducting research, writing and analysing security incidents, data and reports, maintaining and updating security documentation and general admin tasks as required by the security team.

About the role of Safety and Security Intern

The successful applicant will work 2.5 days a week, with potential flexibility for additional hours depending on requirements. The internship will run for 3 months between July and September 2022. This role will be remote working, likely with infrequent travel to the Sightsavers UK office in Haywards Heath.

  • Maintaining and updating Sightsavers online security training modules
  • Researching and writing country security context analyses for upcoming projects
  • Data analysis and security mapping of project implementation areas
  • Maintaining and updating country security plans for Sightsavers operating countries
  • Providing written analysis of current security issues for the management security report

Knowledge, skills and experience for Safety and Security Intern

Essential:

  • Degree educated (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (such as intelligence, security, risk management, conflict studies or international relations)
  • Ability to research and analyse information accurately, and produce high quality written work
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience with administration and general office duties
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset
  • Strong IT, Microsoft Office
  • Fluent English

Desirable:

  • Additional languages such as French or Portuguese, written and spoken
  • Demonstrable interest in the INGO sector or international security industry

Interviews are likely to take place week commencing 4 July 2022. The interview process will be a two-stage process with a written task at first stage and a remote interview at second stage.
