Roving Head of Project AgriExtension Apps (Part-Time 75%)*

The position is to be filled as of July 1, 2022, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. You will work homebased, with frequent travel to the project’s implementation countries.

As Roving Head of Project AgriExtension Apps you will work as part of Welthungerhilfe’s Innovation Unit and will be responsible for the management, implementation and monitoring of a BMZ-funded multi-country project that is introducing agricultural extension apps and building social businesses around them in Burundi, Central African Republic, Haiti, Niger, Mali & the Democratic Republic of the Congo. You will be deployed to a country on short notice to provide flexible “hands-on” support to the Country Offices for clearly defined assignments in project related management and leadership tasks.

Your responsibilities

  • Modify and continue project planning and project budget

  • With support of sector experts and the Project Coordinator, ensure that 6 digital agricultural innovations are developped user centric and have sustainable social business models

  • Support the multi-country agile team and strengthen agile management

  • Support partners in the introduction of agricultural extension apps

  • Build capacities of implementing partners in Innovation topics

  • Identify co-financing opportunities and ensure the timely development of successful project proposals in line with relevant donor regulations and strategies

  • Contribute to the development of the Innovation Unit and strategies, actively participate in strategic discussions and stay informed of overall organizational issues

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Project Management or International Development
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in innovative agile project management, especially expertise in Scrum and/or User centric designing would be an advantage
  • Sound experience in building partner capacity
  • Previous experience in piloting digital solutions with vulnerable target groups is an asset
  • BMZ donor experience is a plus
  • Vast knowledge of agricultural value chains in the context of development countries is an asset
  • A high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s project countries
  • Excellent spoken and written French and English; German language skills would be an asset
