The Role: Roving District Health Project Coordinator

The Roving District Health Project Coordinator will support the government efforts in strengthening the health systems’ capacity to deliver quality RMNCAH services. S/he will ensure the successful implementation of project activities at district level. S/he will represent the project at district level forums, meetings and consultations on policy and technical issues related to the project’s objectives. S/he will work closely with both the technical and programmatic teams based in the field office and country office. S/he will ensure the regular monitoring of indicators and coordinate with relevant stakeholders at the district and national level. In addition, s/he will serve as a focal point to coordinate and ensure successful implementation of project adolescent reproductive and maternal health activities. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified health professional with strong background in RMNCH. Applicants with clinical qualification, nurses, midwives are an advantage.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience in program management with at least 3 years in managing public health projects/programs; leading and managing RMNCAH projects and programs including working on donor-funded projects/activities.
  • Demonstrated experience working in adolescent reproductive health programming
  • Knowledge of current evidence and best practice in adolescent reproductive health programs
  • Strong skills in building a team, training, and on the job mentoring.
  • Experience in supervision, training and mentoring of healthcare workforce
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. Word Excel, Outlook).
  • Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a demanding workload comprised of diverse and challenging tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong oral and written skills. Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic reports that document program directions and results
  • Strong interpersonal skills with managing multicultural teams
  • Proven experience implementing a project or activity against a workplan to ensure on time and quality delivery of program interventions.
  • Experience providing technical assistance and capacity development to country government and health care staff.

  • Involvement in recent current or past outbreak preparedness and response efforts

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated relationships with district and national stakeholders within and outside the government
  • Experience working in urban and rural settings
  • Experience working on a USAID-funded project

CONTRACT LENGTH: 3 Months with possibility for extension
